"You can't believe everything you read about Laguna Park 1. We must've read most, if not all the reviews on here and on other social media. Of course we considered changing hotels before we flew out because that's how bad some of the comments are. We opted to keep our booking and take the risk, we didn't want to pay more money to amend our holiday and after talking it through we'd hope that at best Laguna Park 1 would be a base, because we'd spend most time out during the day.
We were honestly quite surprised and on reflection we had an amazing time and we were glad that we took the risk.
I'll get the negatives out the way. I agree that in some parts of the hotel that it needs maintenance. But I would suspect that most places almost everywhere needs ongoing maintenance and that there maybe slight disruption. They were doing some painting work around the reception area on our visit but they carefully screened it off to protect the public and it was all back to normal in a couple of days.
The only other negative we saw was an incident around the side of the pool where a young girl slipped and badly grazed the back of her leg. We felt that the young male lifeguard was poor to react and given that the girl was bleeding he should have given first aid. In comparison, in another incident where an older lady slipped and hurt her ankle, the young female life guard went above and beyond and assisted as you'd expect them to do.
The positives. We had a great room and that for us was hugely important. Family of 4 with young kids and from previous experience you just hope that the room works for you.
We were in Block E, room 502. The view from the balcony, which is top floor, was amazing and was definitely a plus from me because I love to see the sunset.
Spacious balcony, two sets of sliding doors, one into the main bedroom and the other into the lounge area. The room was fairly modern, it was clean and tidy and we were more than happy. Stairs and lift weren't a problem for us, it was more important to us to have the view.
We ate breakfast every morning and it was excellent, there was things we didn't eat but plenty we enjoyed, we weren't disappointed. It gets busy in the small indoor restaurant but you can choose to eat on the table out by the pool bar. We had a couple of snacks from the pool bar during the afternoon, which again were cooked and served to order, no complaints. We ate in the restaurant most evenings and we always found something that we liked.
Every member of staff that we encountered or spoke with were all excellent, always polite and helpful and they all do a great job. The room was cleaned, new towels, bedding every couple of days, I think housekeeping do an excellent job.
The hotels location is excellent. There is a bus stop for Siam Park just metres up the road, outside Villa de Adeje Beach.
There are plenty of shops and supermarkets around. I can highly recommend the supermarket directly next to the entrance to Laguna Park 1, staff are also brilliant there.
The pool is very good. We saw it regularly cleaned. Sunbeds aren't the best. They're fixed frame so they don't adjust. Pool bar is pretty good. Amstel is the beer and there's a pump where you can self serve, also soft drinks for kids. You can chose to pay for premium drinks like cava.
We did see younger adults in the pool late at night, but to be honest we were 5 floors up so didn't bother us. There was usually a smell of cannabis, which wasn't great but that's up to the hotel to deal with. In summary the hotel hit the main objectives for us. The niggles didn't affect us, the positives out weighed the bad. Sure that you'll have a good stay."
