"We would recommend Las Brisas for a quiet low key stay in a convenient location. It is well located for the beaches and the harbour, these only being a short walk away.
There are no restaurants and bars on the way to these which would have been nice, but I suppose that is partly why the location is tranquil. The bus stop to Ciutadella is very close, and we took advantage of that. Another plus was there is a reasonable supermarket just opposite the office, and another just along the road, which was very handy.
The accommodation was very good for the price paid. Spacious, and well laid out, with a very comfortable large bed. The terrace area was nice to sit out in and there was a rack for drying clothes. The bathroom had been modernised, and all worked well, though the hot water didn’t always last fully to the end of a second shower. The wifi wasn’t great in our room but we had good mobile reception so that wasn’t a problem. The grounds are attractively laid out, with flowers. The pool was fine. There is an issue with bird droppings, which the power hose cleaner doesn’t seem to be able to remove completely, but I suppose that is the price you pay for having attractive large trees and a bit of wildlife, and some natural shade. A bit of manual scrubbing might help.
The reception staff were very helpful with local information, including maps and recommendations. The office has a large number of beach umbrellas left by former guests, which can be borrowed free. Beach chairs can also be hired, which we did. If you want to use the safe in the room you have to pay for the key.
Our main issue was air conditioning that did not work in our original room. It was a bit stressful because we arrived in the late afternoon, when the office had already closed (it closes at 2pm). So we could not easily raise the issue then. It was also not a simple matter of the unit not doing anything - it did blow air, just not very cold, so we felt a bit unsure if it would be readily agreed to be faulty. We wanted to get on with our holiday and the ceiling fans worked quite well so we only reported it the next morning when the office was open. Luckily the lady on reception was friendly and agreed to check out the unit later that day. She rang later and agreed straight away that the unit was faulty. It could not be fixed for 2 days, but when we inquired about switching rooms instead, that proved possible and we moved the next day. These things can happen, and response was good – we were also given a bottle of wine for our troubles. The limited office hours did, however, perhaps delay a resolution.
We weren’t able to check out late, which would have been convenient as we had an afternoon flight, but the staff were helpful and we stored our luggage in the office until the coach pick-up at 12.30pm (not sure what you would do if the pick-up was much later but the staff are very good and might have sorted something).
Overall a good choice for Cala'n Bosch."
