"Very disappointing for a four-star all-inclusive resort
We arrived around midnight and were immediately disappointed to find that our room had a very strong smell of damp. It was so bad that we simply couldn’t stay in the room. My sense of smell is actually quite poor, which makes it even more surprising that the smell was still completely unbearable to me.
The hotel moved us into another room for our first night, but we were told this was a premium room and therefore we could only stay there for one night. The following day, while the hotel was relocating us again, we were left without a room until 3pm. Having already checked in the previous night, I find it highly unacceptable that we were effectively left without access to our room for the majority of the following day. This was particularly inconvenient when travelling with a four-year-old child.
When we eventually got into the new room, thankfully the smell was fine, but the room itself still didn’t give the impression of a four-star property. There was also no bed prepared for our four-year-old daughter when we initially arrived. Fortunately, she co-sleeps with us, so this didn’t cause a major issue for our family, but it could have been a complete disaster for another family arriving late at night with a young child.
The food was another major disappointment. Despite there being plenty of choice, the quality was consistently poor. We struggled to find anything on the breakfast buffet that we considered to be of a decent standard, and lunch and dinner were much the same. For a four-star all-inclusive resort, I expected considerably better. In fact, we ended up eating out for the majority of our meals, which completely defeats the purpose of paying for an all-inclusive package in the first place.
There are, however, some genuinely excellent positives.
The kids’ club and entertainment team were absolutely fantastic and easily the best part of our stay. They went above and beyond to keep the children entertained. The daily kids’ club from 10:00–13:00 gave parents some valuable time to themselves, while activities continued throughout the day with pool games, creative activities, music and dancing. The kids’ mini-disco every evening was also a huge hit, followed by additional family entertainment.
The children’s entertainment genuinely rescued the holiday for us. A particular mention has to go to “Gummy Bear”, who provided outstanding service and was brilliant with the children. Staff like this are a real credit to the resort.
The bar was another highlight. Although cocktails weren’t included in the all-inclusive package, the quality was excellent. The bartenders clearly took pride in what they were doing and put a lot of care into making the drinks, despite being extremely busy. Juan in particular was fantastic, taking the time to craft drinks properly and even free-pouring them to your preferred strength.
The location was okay, although the hotel is around a 10-minute walk from the busier areas. This was absolutely manageable for us as adults, but a little more difficult with a four-year-old, so I’d strongly recommend bringing a stroller if travelling with young children.
Overall, I really wanted to like this resort, but the accommodation and food simply did not live up to the four-star standard we were expecting. Being given a room that was unusable because of the smell of damp, then having to relocate again and subsequently having no room available until 3pm the following day, was extremely frustrating. The poor food quality only added to the disappointment.
The children’s entertainment and the excellent bar staff were the saving grace of the holiday and deserve genuine praise. Unfortunately, though, those positives don’t completely compensate for the fundamental issues with the accommodation and food.
Based on our experience, I would struggle to recommend this resort if you’re looking for a genuine four-star all-inclusive experience."
