"Not a 4 star hotel in any way.
This hotel is very misleading. It gives the illusion that the ground floor restaurant / terrace is a reception and very much part of the hotel. Something that actually sold it to us as we decided between 2 hotels.
It appears that Hoposa chain had just taken occupancy of rooms above a separate restaurant, with an agreement with them to provide breakfast.
We arrived and were asked to go and check in at a reception 2 blocks down the street. Bizzare. So one of us went whilst the other stayed with all of our bags.
Essentially, it's a shared reception with the Daina hotel (another hoposa).
Room was okay, bathroom nicely clean and modern, but the room felt basic. Balconies didn't feel private either. No dividers meant you just look onto neighbouring rooms. We had major security issues with our room which could have been a disaster if we hadn't checked. Anyway, it took hours for these to these be semi-resolved, with a promised resolution the following day.
Aside from that, there was not even a bottle of water provided upon arrival. Again, a 4 star hotel should provide this. (We had just arrived from another 4 star in another town and the difference was glaringly obvious).
The rooftop terrace / pool was nice, but again, basic, no toilet, no bar, no staff, nothing. I'm guessing you would have to take your own drinks up? But without a fridge in the room, I'm not sure where anyone can get a cold beverage on a 35 degree day.
A supposed 4 star hotel, with not a single staff member on site for any assistance or to ask a question? Either having to go back to your room to ring reception, or go 2 blocks away to find someone face to face. Felt more like self catering / staying in your own apartment.
Breakfast was at the restaurant on ground floor that is pictured. Food is lovely and it's nice choosing from a menu and having it served (vs buffet), but it was BUSY, open to the public and guests. So was a 30 minute wait for a drink, 1 hour wait for food.
If you're out for the day and just want a quick tea and bowl of cereal, this would be even more frustrating. Even the juice size they serve is thimble sized so not being able to get your own drink at least is annoying. Allowing guests to do that would surely reduce the burden.
Having visited the reception in the other hotel multiple times to sort our room, I just couldn't believe they were claiming both were 4 stars! they were POLAR opposites.
My advice would be to review all the hoposa options at least, and compare price, if it's a few of hundred difference and you're able to go for that, do it. You'll receive a proper hotel experience instead of feeling like the poor relations chucked above a restaurant and forgotten about with no one there to ensure you have a nice stay.
I will say that the manager was very helpful, polite and understanding and resolved our complaints promptly. He also then checked on us when seeing us around so that was nice."
