"We stayed at Globales Nova Apartments with Jet2 from 21st to 31st July as part of a group of 17 people from our football club. There were five families, with children aged between 12 and 16, including our 16-year-old daughter.
The weather was incredibly hot throughout our stay. For most of the first week temperatures were around 35°C, with just one rainstorm, before dropping slightly to 29–30°C and then climbing back to 32–33°C by the end of the holiday. Even returning to the hotel late at night it was still around 29°C.
The Only Negative – Air Conditioning
I'll start with the only real negative because, unfortunately, it affected everyone in our group.
The apartments have no air conditioning controls, just an on/off switch, and during such sustained heat the system simply wasn't cooling the rooms. After spending all day on the beach or by the pool, you really need somewhere cool to relax, shower, get ready for the evening or have a siesta.
The Jet2 resort manager visited our apartment and measured the room temperature at 27°C, despite the air conditioning supposedly being on. We'd have a shower and immediately start sweating again, and sleeping comfortably was difficult. Not Jet2's fault but they gave us some compensation because of this.
We hadn't planned on eating out every evening as the apartments have kitchen facilities, but cooking would only have made the rooms even hotter, so we ended up eating out every night, which added to the overall cost of the holiday.
We complained to both the hotel and Jet2. After a few days we were given a fan, but as we had two rooms we needed another one and had to ask several times before receiving it. We were also told the air conditioning filters had been changed, but it made no noticeable difference.
It's a shame because this was genuinely the only issue we had, but in temperatures like these it was quite a significant one.
Everything Else Was Excellent
Would we stay again? Absolutely.
Our group had an amazing holiday together.
On arrival, everyone except one family reached the hotel together. Their transfer bus had several drop-offs and they couldn't initially board ours because the luggage compartment was full, so they arrived around an hour later. While waiting for our rooms we had drinks and food from the pool bar, which set the tone for the rest of the holiday. The food was good, prices were reasonable and the staff were friendly throughout our stay.
Pools
The outdoor pool was lovely and, because of the heat, felt almost like a warm bath! There is also an indoor pool which was freezing in the best possible way. It became the perfect place to cool down after hours in the sun.
Like many resorts in Mallorca, you do need to be up early if you want the best loungers. We were putting towels down around 7am, although some people were out as early as 6am. There are plenty of loungers overall, but the popular spots go quickly.
Apartments
The apartments themselves were spacious and clean.
The bedroom had a comfortable double bed and plenty of wardrobe space. The lounge/kitchen area also had good storage, a TV, hob, microwave and fridge.
Our balcony overlooked the pool and had a lovely sea view, making it a perfect place to watch the sunrise. I'd definitely recommend requesting a pool or sea-view apartment if possible, as some rooms face inland.
Location
The location is one of the hotel's biggest strengths.
We spent several days on Palmanova Beach, hiring sunbeds and the coconut-style umbrellas (around €20 for two beds and an umbrella). The beach was spotless, the sea was crystal clear and incredibly warm. We also enjoyed watching the boats, superyachts and the occasional Ferrari or Porsche driving around the area.
Restaurants & Bars
We ate at some excellent restaurants during our stay, including:
Grill House (opposite the hotel)
Barbuda Beach
The Olive Tree
Zen Lounge Bar
Turtle Beach Bar
Siso Beach Club
Diana Beach House
Beach Club Sports Bar (great place to watch the Formula 1 on the big screen)
A lovely Indian restaurant
Blackbeard's in Magaluf
We visited Magaluf a few times, but personally preferred the more relaxed atmosphere of Palmanova. Most evenings ended with a drink at Roger's Bar or Three Brothers before heading back to the apartments.
Don't Miss Pirates Adventure
If you're visiting the area, Pirates Adventure is an absolute must. It deserves a review all of its own. The production, acrobatics and entertainment were genuinely world class.
Overall
Despite the air conditioning problems, we all agreed we'd happily stay at Globales Nova again.
The location is excellent, the apartments are clean and spacious, the pool area is great, the pool bar is reasonably priced with friendly staff, and the overall atmosphere is perfect for families.
If the hotel could resolve the air conditioning issue, this would easily have been a five-star stay. As it stands, that's the one thing preventing me from giving it full marks.
Would we return? Yes."
