Gavimar La Mirada Club Resort

"Just returned from staying at the Gavimar La Mirada hotel. I stayed for 4 nights with my 2 children. The hotel is clean and in a wonderful location. The staff are very hardworking, especially the chef who does the show cooking. He’s there all day and evening cooking lots of lovely fresh food and doesn’t stop! The food overall was really nice. Do not believe the low star reviews about this hotel and the food. It is a 3 star and I think people expect too much. Yes not everything was to our taste and some of it can feel a bit repetitive at times but it was of good quality and lots of choice. I had low expectations of the food before coming as I had read the reviews on here but it actually exceeded my expectations. The room cleaners were lovely and very friendly. They would always greet us when were coming to and from our room. We only had our room cleaned once during our stay as I didn’t feel it needed to be cleaned everyday and therefore put the sign on the door to ask for it not to be cleaned but when it was cleaned it was to a very high standard. We didn’t really make use of the entertainment but the staff always appeared happy and worked very hard at making sure that guests were having a great time. We didn’t have any issues with ants in our room or around the hotel. The pool area is lovely and clean and there were always plenty of sunbeds around. I also really liked the room key being on my wristband as there was no worry about forgetting the room key or trying to find it in my bag. The only thing I would like to see if I returned would be a bottle of water in the fridge on arrival that we could drink first thing in the morning or at night. I would definitely return to this hotel if I was visiting Majorca again."

"Just returned from a holiday at this hotel, 1 adult and two older children. Arrival- Opened the entrance door to quite a musty smell, not very pleasant. Stood waiting at reception for around 5 minutes before being acknowledged which was awkward. We then had to self check-in, which was a faff after travelling all day to then have to get passports back out to take photos of them as well as a photo of the booking confirmation, so make sure you have these available. The door key is attached to the wristband which was very convenient, although I wish I had asked if the children could have a key too as it meant they couldn’t just go to the room as and when. Room- The room was quite dated, there are a lot of crevices that need filling such as around the terrace door and wardrobe as we did have a lot of ants getting through these gaps. They were in the suitcase and the odd few crawling on us, although they were easy enough to clean away with some tissue. If you don’t like bugs then this is something to be aware of. We were on the second floor too so was surprised to see them. The fridge was good, plenty of space and the pillows were the comfiest I’ve ever slept on. The beds were super squeaky though, but comfy. Shower was old and went from cool to scalding hot every few seconds so it took a lot longer than necessary as you had to keep stepping out until it cooled down. Wasted an awful lot of water. It was also difficult to sleep at night due to the sound of glass bottles being disposed of at around midnight, noisy guests (although this isn’t the hotels fault and something you get at most hotels), and then the sound of furniture being moved around from around 7:30am (presumably cleaners?). The air-con was good, WiFi hit and miss. We did have an issue with the door key reader but this was fixed by maintenance very quickly. Pool- Small pool, but clean, warm, perfectly adequate and big enough for the number of guests. The sun-beds around the pool were occupied each day, but there were plenty of empty sun-beds up on the solarium where it was very peaceful. Food- This is personal preference, so, subjective, but I found that the quality of the ingredients seemed poor. Having said that, we always found something to eat at lunch and for the evening meal. The drinks were fine too and plenty of choice. Staff- We found the majority of staff to be very hard working and friendly. They were never doing nothing, always busy. The only issue I had was the barman offering a lecture on why I shouldn’t put coffee in the plastic cups, despite me explaining that it wasn’t coffee, it was Pepsi with ice cream (ice cream float). Regardless, I’m an adult and do not need a lecture, especially after repeatedly stating that it was not coffee! This put me off returning to the bar. The cups are €1 to use, although you get this back. Location- The hotel is in a beautiful location, just a few minutes walk to Caló d’es Pou and a 10 minute walk to Cala Egos, two little coves. The shops and restaurants are also minutes away, and the TingTing stop is also just by the hotel. At the very least, the hotel is a great base for such a lovely location. Overall, it is a basic 3* hotel which is in a beautiful location. The hotel could do with some investment and refurbishment. I can see the hotel state that they maintain a classical style, but there is a clear line between classical and uninvested. The above issues were very minor to us and did not affect our stay, we still had a wonderful holiday and found it to be perfectly adequate for a 3* hotel."

"The good… the location is amazing. Close to 2 beautiful little coves. They get super busy in august. Not far to walk to the marina either. The bad…. The ants in the rooms 🫣 the rooms weren’t cleaned to a high standard either . Bathroom wasn’t cleaned the whole week we were there. The rooms were spacious. Beds ok. Pretty hard. Theres not a lot of room for sunloungers around the pool thank god there was a solarium up the stairs at the side of the pool. Pool is quite big. The entertainment staff are not very fun loving as you would expect. Not a lot of joy in them !! The snack bar was good. The best food served in our opinion. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The ugly….. the food was really bad !!!! Small amount of choice. Not a good choice either. Very poor. We were all inclusive but we ate out 6 nights out of the 7. I wouldn’t go back here. 🫣 Very very dated. In desperate need of a refurbishment. Loved the area itself."
