"e recently stayed at this hotel in Alcúdia and, while we had a good holiday overall, I don’t feel the hotel quite lives up to its advertised 4-star rating. I’d describe it as a good 3-star hotel with some strong positives, but also several shortcomings that prevented it from feeling like a true 4-star experience.
The biggest positive is the location. It’s excellent. The beach is only around a 3-minute walk away, Lidl is about 5 minutes away, the port is roughly 20 minutes on foot, and Alcúdia Old Town is around 25 minutes away. The area is completely flat, making it easy to walk everywhere. There is also a bus stop directly outside the hotel where you can catch the 302 service to and from Palma, which takes around 1 hour 20 minutes and cost us €9 per adult each way.
The hotel itself is modern and generally clean. Our room looked fresh and contemporary, although it was quite small and would probably feel cramped if more than two people were staying in it. The pool area was another positive. The pool was clean, never felt overcrowded, and there were always plenty of sunbeds available, even though some guests reserved them early in the day.
Unfortunately, the biggest issue throughout our stay was noise. We were woken up every single night by noise coming from outside the hotel. Sirens, motorbikes, cars, and groups of people walking past late at night were a regular occurrence. We were located at the end of a corridor and rarely heard neighbouring guests, so the problem seems to be external noise rather than thin walls between rooms. If you’re a light sleeper, this is definitely something to consider.
The room amenities also fell short of what I’d expect from a 4-star hotel. There were no robes, slippers, drinking glasses, or complimentary bottled water in the room. The mini fridge was completely empty on arrival. We arrived at around 3am and ended up spending approximately €8 on four small bottles of water from the vending machines in the lobby. Even the room safe required an additional charge to use, which felt disappointing.
Another frustration was the kettle situation. There are no kettles in the rooms, but you can borrow one from reception by paying a refundable €20 deposit. However, supplies are limited. We requested one and had to wait three days before one became available.
Although the room generally appeared clean, there were a couple of housekeeping issues that stood out. One of our towels had a hole in it, and the bottom of one bedsheet appeared to have small stains that looked like dried blood spots. Neither issue ruined the holiday, but they don’t inspire confidence in a hotel claiming a 4-star standard.
The staff, however, were excellent. Every member of the front desk team we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. It’s important to separate the hotel’s shortcomings from the people working there, because the staff consistently did a good job throughout our stay.
The real stars of the hotel were the entertainment team: Flora, Venus, and Marta. They worked incredibly hard every day and deserve special recognition. The entertainment programme catered to all ages, with a children’s mini disco every evening and a wide range of daytime activities including water Zumba, quizzes, axe throwing, and pellet gun shooting. They brought a huge amount of energy and enthusiasm and were one of the highlights of the holiday.
The food was generally good, particularly when included as part of your package. The evening buffet offered plenty of choice and some dishes were genuinely enjoyable – the limoncello chicken was especially good. However, if you’re paying separately, I don’t think it represents good value. Breakfast costs €14 per person and dinner costs €22 per person, which felt overpriced for the quality on offer. There is certainly plenty of food available, but the focus feels more on quantity and variety than high-quality dining. For those paying separately, I’d recommend exploring the local restaurants instead.
One useful thing for future guests to know is that you must wait to be seated for both breakfast and dinner. We initially believed breakfast was self-seating because we were waved through on our first morning, only to be told the following day that we needed to wait to be seated. It wasn’t a major issue, but clearer communication would have avoided an awkward misunderstanding.
The hotel Wi-Fi is free, which is appreciated, but we found it unreliable in our room. As our room was located towards the edge of the property, the connection frequently dropped out.
Finally, if you’re staying in the area, I highly recommend the nearby Smash Burger restaurant, which is about a one-minute walk from the hotel. It served one of the best burgers I’ve ever had and became one of the highlights of our trip.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and had a good holiday thanks to the excellent location, friendly staff, hardworking entertainment team, clean pool area, and decent food. However, the poor soundproofing from street noise, lack of expected 4-star amenities, extra charges for basic conveniences, and a few housekeeping issues mean I can’t honestly rate it as a 4-star experience. If marketed as a solid 3-star hotel, I think expectations would be much closer to reality!"
