"I don’t tend to write reviews but I couldn’t not after such a fantastic week here. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome and off to a fantastic start with such a lovely greeting from Hugo. We arrived late at night and were given our goodie bags with sandwiches etc which was a lovely touch after a long day of travelling. We got to our room eventually after trying to find it around the giant complex and it was perfect we had a room right above the kids splash pool on the 2nd floor.
I would recommend requesting ground floor with young children or those with mobility issues as there are steps up to all the rooms. The rooms are so spacious and the beds were very comfy. It was also immaculately clean.
The grounds are beautiful and kept really looked after by all the lovely staff and groundsmen.
The food was delicious and even for a very fussy eater like myself I never went hungry, it was also some of the hottest buffet food I’ve had from any hotel I’ve ever stayed in which was a bonus. We were only half board but next time would definitely go all inclusive as the food was so impressive. It was also great that we could swap lunch for evening meal and had the option to do so. Breakfast was also great the pancakes were a hit with us. The evenings were quite busy but we always got seated outside where we liked to sit it did take quite a while getting a drink sometimes if you weren’t all inclusive as I do think all inclusive seemed to have get priority – it was no issue though just a little longer wait or asking at the bar.
We spent most of our time at the coral pool as it had the shallow end for my little boy to play – I personally liked the no ball no lilo rule for safety and it was executed but some may have an issue with that bigger kids love playing ballgames etc but there is a football pitch to keep them entertained. The splash park was also great for younger kids my son really enjoyed running about and it was enjoyable for parents too as put your mind at ease knowing they were safe not immersed in the water – great also for those with children who aren’t too keen on the water or swimming as they can get wet at there own pace. We really enjoyed that area.
The park was also lovely within the kids club. The kids club and entertainment team were fantastic made my little one feel welcome and at ease, hes only 3 so was never left alone but when we went in the evening for the disco it was great fun – particularly seeing acui and the lava game! At first I found it quite strange how the mini disco was held at the kids club but I do now think it’s a much better idea! The kids could have fun in their own safe enclosed area without rowdy adults or drinks around so they were all confident and happy enough to join in.
We only went to one show which was the movie show with all the entertainment team and it was hilarious they really put on a great show. Most of the evenings when we weren’t out in Puerto del carmen we spent at the outdoor cinema, we really really loved it there and it was a core memory for me sitting outside in the evenings with my little boy with some snacks and blankets watching a great choice of movies. Such a lovely idea and it was great to have that option aswell as the evening entertainment. The day time was great aswell the carpet game in the coral pool and the foam party were great fun for little ones and adults alike, such a laugh.
Puerto del carmen centre is a good 45 – 1 hours walk maybe longer depending on your capabilities but we enjoyed the walk as the area itself was lovely and safe. Just down the road there is a strip of shops and bars, Marcos being our favourite would totally recommend there also for lunch or tea and drinks. The area is lovely and peaceful and the beach is beautiful and well kept. Its great for children as loads of parks and things to keep them entertained.
We rented bikes from the hotel one day that was very reasonable for a bike & a childrens seat. The area is great even for non-cyclers as there are bike lanes all the way down the beach front. I recommend cycling down to the airport to watch the planes taking off and landing right above your head. Great fun for kids!
Highly recommend a trip to rancho texas great fun for kids and adults! What more could you want than a water park and a zoo in one! From the hotel it was only 5 euros in a taxi so book tickets online and just get a taxi to the park for a great day out.
Overall the hotel was certainly 5* for me. I have nothing to complain about and everything was perfect. It really was bliss and great memories made. Thank you so much to everyone here who works so hard to make it what it is as its just bliss and we will totally be looking to visit again in the future with other family members."
