"Stayed for a week as a couple in a one bed apartment half board in mid November. First time visiting and had booked based mostly on the excellent reviews. We weren't disappointed! Arrived around 6 in the evening - check in was straight forward at reception. The room (717) was on the first floor of the block towards the front of the complex which is the quieter side of the hotel. The apartments to the back overlook the pool and there would be more activity up that end. It's whatever you like best.
The apartment has everything you need. It is clean, well-furnished with super comfortable beds. For a third person, there is a very comfortable looking fold away bed under the sofa. The rooms are cleaned every day except Wednesday - clean towels, bins emptied, etc. If staying self catering, everything you need is there. The air conditioning is very welcome. If booking directly with the hotel, you will get a lovely bottle of Cava in the room on arrival and two bottles of water - one sparking and one still. Large 5 litre bottles of water are also available to buy at reception for €1.50.
The hotel itself is most welcoming when you first enter. Inside the gates there is a small reception, an open area which has a pool table and a table tennis table and you can walk straight into either the restaurant or the bar, both of which are very well designed. When you walk past this area, there are steps / ramp up to the next level of the complex which has some very luxurious loungers and has the quieter rooms. Passing through there are more steps / ramp, which brings you to the pool area and the next area of apartments. No issues for those with mobility problems - the ramps make things very accessible. However there are steps only to the upper apartments so if needed, request a ground floor room. There is also a hoist for access to the swimming pool.
The food in the restaurant is breakfast and dinner. The breakfast has a large selection of hot and cold options - a cooked breakfast (rashers, sausages, beans, mushrooms, eggs, etc.) while there are so many cold options. Plenty of cereals as well and breads, toast, tea, coffee as well. Open from 8am to 10.30am.
The dinner opens from 6.30pm to 9.30pm and has a huge range of options both hot and cold. We never saw any dish repeated in the week we were there. The hot options included chicken, chops, beef, ham etc. with potatoes, chips, rice and veg. Also pizza every evening. There are also endless salad choices and rows of lovely desserts including cakes, jelly and ice cream. Drinks are ordered from the staff and can be either paid for at the time or charged to the room. Always have your room number handy.
The bar next to the restaurant is also beautifully set out. You can choose to sit outside on comfy sofas or sit inside. It was not expensive to drink there - a large pint of beer and a bottle of Kopperberg was €7.50. This is where the entertainment happens. We didn't think there would be anything on given the time of year but there was usually some music from 9.15 every night for a hour or more. I would imagine it is far busier in the higher seasons.
The pool area is fantastic. Cleaned every evening and kept well all day. As it was November, it was no problem to get sunbed of which there are plenty. Again, I would imagine it is far busier in the summer but they have signs up saying that unattended towels will be removed - I hope that is the case. Once the pool officially 'opens' at 10, you can get large towels from the reception for use at the pool. There was a lifeguard on duty once the pool opened.
There is the most fabulous pool bar which opens from 11am to 6pm. Food can be ordered between 1pm and 4pm which is very reasonably priced. There were folks just sipping drinks and coffee and enjoying the view which we did ourselves a couple of the days.
The highlight of this hotel is the staff. Nothing was ever any trouble when we called to reception at any stage which is open 24 hours. Always happy to order you a taxi. The restaurant staff were very pleasant and friendly. One of the lady chefs I saw never seemed to stop smiling - she looked delighted seeing us all pick out our meals. The two gents serving in the main bar were lovely. Always ready for a chat and a laugh. If I had one comment, it would be in relation to the pool bar - the young chap there should be more prepared to serve the customers waiting at the counter than doing small jobs around the bar that I am sure were not all that urgent and could have been done when the customers were looked after.
Special mention needs to go to the man doing the animation programme. He was on his own given that it was November but he was as enthusiastic as if he had hundreds of people. We didn't catch his name unfortunately but if that lad managed to get two 50-somethings into the pool for aqua aerobics, then he is a genius in my mind! Would love to see him again.
The hotel is located at the top of a very steep hill in the Old Town so definitely walk down and get a bus or a taxi back. A taxi is just a couple of euro. The bus stop is 100 meters from the gate and seemed to be very well used. Just a couple of hundred meters past the bus stop is a huge Super Dino shop where we got anything we wanted. We hired a car for 2 days and were entitled to free car parking in the underground carpark as we had booked directly with the hotel.
Will we be back? Most definitely. Have booked for 13 nights in June 2026. Three of us this time in a one bedroom apartment. Have requested a room on a higher level overlooking the pool just for a change but to be honest, all rooms are good.
Look forward to seeing you all in June."
