"We stayed at the Sol Hotel in March 2026 . There was some good bits and some bad .
First of all the weather we were very unlucky with the weather during our holiday which no one had control over . Unfortunately, it was unusually cold winds and clouds . The hotel made no allowances for guests during this cold time . No heaters in sight only 2 small ones in the restaurant. All guests sat in the bar in coats as all doors left open as if it was hot it was not !!!! Not comfortable chairs, either horrible brown plastic hard chairs . Not enough comfortable ones ie sofas the same guests got the best seats every night, especially big groups .
Drinks were ok very gassy . House wines beers gin, etc . It was nice to have a glass in the evening as during the day you have to re use a plastic beaker . On arrival you get tokens in exchange for a blue beaker . I didn't like this idea as im 57 and paid a fair bit for the hotel stay to be made to drink out of a beaker .. cocktails were very boring in the day and didn't have any appeal from a beaker for me !!!
The good bits :
Free WiFi was great and free safe . Laundrette is handy and a nice gym . The spa had good treatments to offer . Beds and pillows were comfortable tea and coffee in the rooms . We asked for extra blankets and were accommodated with this .Literally 10 minutes from the airport . The shower was lovely and hot .
The room was ok a bit dated and some workmanship was alot to be desired alot of furniture looking very tired . We were dissapointed with the view we over looked a run down park and cat family pooing daily in the gardens . I rang up and said why didn't we get a sea view I was told because you did not pay for this . I paid nearly £1800 for a week i bet alot of guests paid half that on a cheap deal and got a better room . Also in the family area and a young couple had an unhappy baby so she or he was crying alot and the walls are very thin . I felt sorry for them as they must of been tired too . So next time well do adult only as we couldn't sleep with the little one next door . I dont mind babies at all but on holiday it was tiring we have children and grandchildren and know how fussy baby's can be at times. The cleaners looked after our room we had fresh towels daily which was nice . Great hairdryer in the room too x
The Food !!
The hot food was absolutely awful in our opinion others may differ ! Never had such poor hot food on holiday . There was good variety of salad, soup cakes , fish and breads . There was a cooking station cooking chicken etc but nothing fancy at all just re filled trays with it . Everything was chicken thighs mutton lamb and lamb shoulder ,pig cheek . Not much offer of vegetables or potatoes to go with it always chips or dried new potatoes or plain rice over cooked broccoli !!! Every night, spaghetti bologneise and lasagne but not with meat just sauce , chicken nuggets. Fish with bones and squid . Everything was cold or luke warm .
Puddings were nice, lots of cake and cheesecake and sweets , gateaux and mousse some cake was still frozen .
Breakfast wasn't good cold scrambled eggs boiled mushrooms and bacon hot food was never hot it asked for a fresh fried egg instead of one that was cold goodness the horl cooking was not impressed !!!! . Lovely pancakes and a variety of runny yogurt and cereals and fruit .
For us the hot food was a real let down and spoilt our holiday . Trying to find a seat was a nightmare as its like a canteen cant move for people and you are huddled closely together . Lots of rude people too who move tables and chairs for their big groups they took over everywhere Not a pleasent experience at all for us .
No point dressing up as just a canteen and it was cold !
The snack bar food was stale bread rolls for burgers and hot dogs . Pizza was ok all was a very poor standard . Icecreams were just pots had to pay for lollies etc there was cakes doughnuts etc .We have had much better all inclusive holidays and the food here was nice somedays awful others ..
The pool area was really lovely lots of loungers and looked lovely. We didn't sit there much as the weather was poor and cold winds . When we did it was a nice atmosphere one day live music and BBQ really nice hot burgers .
The hotel location is excellent lovely walks to peurto del carmen great bars and shopping the beach is huge .
Great to watch the planes fly over too .
Loungers and umbrella on the beach are €10. 50 . Buses were really good number 3 for the strip of peurto del carmen, 161 for play blanca. There is a bus to Costa teguise too Literally outside the hotel ..
The staff at the hotel work very hard . The cleaners bar staff reception all hard workers . Some of them are friendly some not so much .
For us this hotel is not 4 star its more 3 star its a big hotel chain and a typical all inclusive hotel in need of updating. I felt like we had paid alot for a week and will not come back to this hotel, i didn't like our view at all other guests had amazing views but similar apartments. It does not pay to book in advance through third party as we pay more and people who book direct or last minute tend to get the better rooms which is unfair but this happens in most hotels . Also, cat poo on the balcony is disgusting. Shop at the hotel but all the clothes and gifts, nice lady who runs it too .
