"We've have just got back from a lovely family holiday during February half term and had such a lovely time. It's not perfect, and there's a few minor issues which I'll discuss but overall we were really pleased with the facilities, the hotel and the location.
After arriving at the airport we opted to take a taxi to the hotel which was around £50 and took about 20 minutes. The reception staff were very nice and checked us in quickly and gave us a few details about the hotel, like how to access activity schedules etc. Our first impressions were really good and the hotel looked modern and clean.
Room:
Our room was close to the lifts on the 3rd floor - Room 304. We had twin beds made into a double in the bedroom, then a corridor to the living area with a double sofabed for the kids (8 and 5) to share and a bathroom in the middle. The room was fairly comfortable and we had plenty of space, but it did look a bit tired round the edges. The bathroom was basically a wet room with a shower curtain which was a bit odd but the shower itself was fine. The floor in the bathroom could get very slippy so I would recommend wearing sliders or something. The sun shone straight onto the balcony and it had two pull-out hangers on each side so we were able to dry towels and swimsuits easily. The room also had a mini fridge and a TV which we plugged our firestick into. Wi-fi was available throughout the hotel.
The room (and whole hotel) was pretty quiet on a night but you could hear people walking down the corridor and past the room if you were awake.
Pool:
The main pool is big and does get very deep (about 4meteres or so) which was a bit of a suprise! There is an access ramp and plenty of steps dotted round the sides. It felt a little cold at first but after a minute or so it was fine and was nice to swim and play in. The main pool is where all the aquafit took place each day but during the week we were there this was never a problem and there was plenty of space.
There is a basic, circular kids pool next to the pool bar which my 5 year old liked and she would play in there for ages. It was nice to sit there with my legs hanging in the water and read my book whilst she played.
There is also a little splash pad thing for young children but this is only a couple of inches deep and best suited for babies/toddlers. The splash pad is mostly shaded too.
There are plenty of sunbeds dotted around and the outside areas are separated into smoking and non-smoking sections which is great. However, you do have to play sunbed wars unfortunately and go down early to secure one. I usually went down between 8-8:30 and didn't usually have any problem getting 4 together.
It was fairly quiet round the pool, there is no music playing and theres plenty of sun to be enjoyed! IF you go up the steps next to the restaurant there is a large sundeck with more sunbeds, and apparently a solarium on the roof but we didnt go up there to see it.
Activities:
There is a few activities to keep you occupied but not too many and you're never pressured into anything. Each day there is usually aquafit, and then games such as darts, archery, shooting etc depending on the timetable. These were usually quite fun and the winner usually gets a prize.
There is an arcade/games room also but you do need euros for the games. My son spent quite a lot of time down here playing on the interactive wall (which was free) and it is air-conned too so a good spot to cool down if needed. The gym is next to the pool area too - Not that big but has enough equipment for a good workout. The gym had a few machines, cable stack, smith machine, dumbbells and some cardio equipment. I used this on 3 of the 7 days and managed a good session each time. I also found a good running route from the hotel which was around 6km but even at 8am i found it very hard due to the heat!!
Entertainment:
This is something that let the hotel down for me. The evening's were, mostly, tragic. There is a tsage next to the outdoor bar that usually had some sort of singer on but this seemed to be aimed at the older crowd. Not for me but they seemed to lvoe it and plenty of them up dancing. There were a lot of germain, dutch and scandanavian guests and the entertainment seemed planned for this.
Indoors they had a kids mini disco which again, was a bit naff. Then this was usually followed by a quiz or bingo, and some sort of show. A couple of the shows were really good - The circus one was great! but others were terrible and uninteresting.
I found the evenings a bit boring tbh and usually had a few drinks and an early night.
Food:
Generally ok. The restaurant does get busy at peak times and doesn't seem particularly well designed, nor does it seem big enough for those busy periods. There is some outdoor seating with separate smoking/non smoking areas but most of the seating is inside. The restaurant has a bit of a canteen feel to it, it can get a big noisy and echoey when its really busy. If you can avoid the rush hour though it's usually ok.
The food was ok. Always plenty of choice and I found plenty to eat each day. None of it blew me away though and it lacked a bit of seasoning. There was also a lack of anything traditionally Spanish which was disappointing. Breakfasts were disappointing for me and by day 4 or 5 I stopped bothering and waited until the pool bar opened instead.
The bar in the restaurant is annoying too. You have to queue for drinks and it can take a while. The queue is also right next to people trying to get food or get passed to their table. Just doesn't work very well. We ended up getting drinks first before food so we didn't bother having to queue again.
Overall, we had a lovely holiday and really enjoyed the hotel and weather. We would go back again, but would find some other places to eat just for a change, and would find some alternative places for entertainment.
The weather was amazing, the kids loved it. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful holiday!"
