"We were fortunate enough timewise to grab a last minute week away for some R and R and to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We found the Kumara Serenoa at a reasonable price, reviews seemed positive on the whole. On arrival our first impressions were that it was relevantly quite, reasonably clean and tidy but somewhat tired in various locations but a bit remote. We had booked a Junior suite in the adult only part of the complex, when arriving at our room the door was open it appears that the door had been forced and the fixing bracket had snapped, the door handle was also partly hanging off which sadly with a single touch fell off this must have been seen by housekeeping because we had to wait over a hour for our room to be ready. Not the best start to the holiday! Other than that he room was nice and the amenities good, though the TV did not work and no one from the hotel dealt with this issue during our weeks stay. The hotel offer a service where if you do not wish to have your hotel room attended to everyday they provide a voucher for a drink per person of your choice for each night that the room is not cleaned. They should apparently leave this voucher in your room but this did not happen during our stay and each time we had to go to reception and ask, sadly this always turned out to be a bit of an ordeal, heated conversations and we almost had to beg for the voucher/s, strange as this is beneficial and money saving to the hotel. On the fourth day we requested our room to be cleaned at which point the bedding along with the towels should be changed. Come 4pm the room still had not been attended too so we had to yet again deal with reception, begging seems to be the only way, They finally came, housekeeping were in our room less than 10 minutes, they did leave clean towels, no clean sheets, however they were kind enough to straighten the duvet cover, no cleaning, sweeping or washing of floors no cleaning of the bathroom, appalling! I had emailed the hotel regarding our anniversary in advance of our stay and I received a wonderful email in return saying that they would indeed look to make our stay truly memorable. To mark our anniversary the hotel left a note in our room along with a tiny box of six chocolates, I don't wish to seem ungrateful but would of perhaps expected a little more! The amenities in the room were lacking, there is a coffee machine but only 4 pods and 2 milks this is not replenished during your stay, there is no kettle for making hot drinks and there is no complimentary water, all have to be purchased outside of the hotel. Everything that others have said in previous reviews is correct regarding the buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner it is extremely limited in choice and variety a majority of the food is bland and reheated and served the following day. Due to the remoteness of the complex sadly there is limited access to other restaurants or eateries other than taking a taxi or hiring a car during your stay. There is a bus service from the hotel however this is limited in times, availability and number. It would be beneficial if the hotel considered offering bikes or scooters to guests as an alternative or increasing the bus availability. The grounds are okay but the one thing you can't help but notice is the litter fag butts, straws, old used plasters, wet wipes and tissues which are everywhere which sadly is very rarely tidied up, it didn't happen during our weeks stay, Don't t be surprised by the cockroaches, they are harmless and though varying in sizes don't seem to be too much of a problem. One final note is the staff, they appear generally not interested in guests, we found them to be dismissive, disrespectful and rude at times! We certainly will not be returning and we have difficulty in understanding why some people do.... There are so many other nicer places to visit!"
