"My family and I stayed at this hotel in the south of Fuerteventura for 4 nights and we were deeply underwhelmed with what this hotel offered. To start off on a positive note, the room we stayed at in this hotel was very spacious, with two floors and two ensuites for the three of us. Facilities within the room worked fine and the view from the room was splendid, overseeing the Atlantic Ocean. However, the cons of this hotel completely overshadow the only few good glimmers it presents...
Firstly, both our hand towels and bath towels were not changed by the cleaners who came each morning even when both sets of towels were completely wet and used, with the cleaners preferring to put the same, dirty towels back onto the rack. Only when you had the opportunity to catch them in the morning would they change it after having to ask. Bakour La Pared also had very limited entertainment, with barely any daytime entertainment on offer each day, making the atmosphere during the day very dull and slightly dismal. The pool was small and completely contained salt water rather than the usual and the gym was dated and quite filthy, with very limited equipment, rusted equipment and broken down treadmills. However, another awful part of this hotel actually comes from the kitchen, something that guests look forwards to the most at hotels. The restaurant was dated and cleanliness was subpar, with my father spotting some food that was on the floor a day prior and wasn't cleaned up. The food was quite atrocious too, with no variety whatsoever across both breakfast and dinner. The buffet was very limited and the food was the same each morning and evening with a lack of fresh food available. Some of the food were also missing labels to tell you what it was. We even spotted flies surrounding the salad bar during dinner and when informing the chef about this, he left the food there and just shook away the flies with his hand. Regarding the staff at the restaurant, we found them very lacklustre with our queries and they all simply had no heart, with no smiles on their faces and unlike other hotels across the Canary Islands we have been to, they don't offer to take your dirty plates on the table. It made dinner just feel so gloomy and it's as if they don't have a real passion for their jobs! Additionally, barring one member of staff at the restaurant who can speak English, other staff members speak hardly any English when it was highlighted that English is one of the main languages spoken at this hotel when we booked it.
But I would say the worst part of this hotel has to be the drinks policy. We chose half-board for this stay and frankly, we found it absolutely pathetic that the only drinks offered to half-board guests is tap-water including during meals. In other hotels where we have stayed half-board, not only in Fuerteventura and the Canary Islands but also in other countries, half-board guests were offered a variety of soft drinks, wines, ciders and beers as long as you pay for those. This hotel had all those options available, yet it was mandatory that the only drink we were allowed was tap-water even when we were willing to pay for those drinks. This hotel only reserves those drinks for all-inclusive guests for some odd reason and give half-board guests the most basic drinks option there is. Furthermore, in another half-board hotel we stayed at in the north of Fuerteventura, you can ask for bottles of water without having to pay, albeit soft drinks, ciders, beers etc were charged. However, at Bakour La Pared hotel, you weren't even allowed bottles of water when asking at the bar and the coffee machine was off limits too, even when at other hotels we have stayed half-board at, the coffee machines in the lobby were free to use! Finally, this hotel's location is very poor as well, with nothing to do in the small town of La Pared and the nearest lively town is around a twenty minute drive to Morro Jable so best to rent a car if you choose this place.
Overall, my family and I were extremely disappointed with this hotel and I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel to anyone unless significant and vast upgrades, especially in the drinks department, are made to Bakour La Pared in the near future."
