Hôtel Taimar

"Very small (100 rooms) and quiet hotel. We stayed in premium suite so had access to our own (adult only) area with our own sunbeds and patio table and chairs. The room was big and spacious which had patio doors leading out on to individual patio area. A safe was available in room for €3.50 per day plus a €50 deposit (didn't get this). Towels for loungers were available for free. (Just needed to sign a waiver saying you would pay €20 if you lost or damaged them). Bedding changed every 3 days and bathroom towels were changed daily if needed. Shower in room was amazing. The pool area was always quiet and sunbeds were always available anytime of day. The area was quiet. There was a small mini market selling everyday essentials, directly opposite the hotel entrance. Just around the corner (2 minute walk) was a small tapas style bar and a shop which was like the tardis. Looked tiny from the outside but went back for miles. If you couldn't find what you wanted in here then it probably doesn't exist. It was around 15 minutes walk to the beach or 3 minutes in a taxi for around €5. A little further along were some decent bars, shopping centre and restaurants for around €8 in a taxi. The buffet style food was small but always a few decent options. My wife is vegetarian and had plenty of salad, vegetables and cheese to choose from at breakfast, lunch and dinner. My daughter (17) is a VERY fussy eater, she found food she liked at EVERY mealtime apart from an evening meal one night. She had chips and soup that night. Plus of course desserts which stayed the same every night. Little tubs of ice cream were available all day from the pool bar during opening hours or the restaurant during food times. Breakfast was 07:30-10:00, lunch 13:00-15:00 and evening meal was 19:00-21:30. Food was served in the main restaurant area which was open plan so was very windy (Fuerteventura is a very windy island). This was a godsend during the hot day, however a jacket/jumper was needed in the evening. As there is no entertainment in the hotel at all, the restaurant doubles up as the all inclusive bar of an evening to play cards and socialise, or drinks can be taken to rooms in plastic glasses if you prefer. The swimming pool was open from 10:00-18:00 every day and the pool bar opened 10:30-18:30 for all inclusive drinks. One gripe about the food was that no snacks were available during the day in the pool bar, apart from the pastries leftover from breakfast. So not the usual burgers, chips or pizza etc. if you are used to all inclusive holidays. The whole resort, was kept spotlessly clean. I'll leave the best til last. The staff. Every single one of them was amazing. Always polite, hard working, helpful and courteous."

"We were 3 couples stayed a week end of May and this Hotel was fabulous for us location not too far from the beach15minute slow walk and near by restaurants in a cab around 6€ . The Hotel meals were adequate the staff were always helpful and friendly . Our rooms were spotless the shower was amazing! There is no entertainment at this hotel but we played cards so for us was perfect drinking, cards and chatting. Pool area was good too always got six sun beds together no matter what time we visited. All in all great value for money would definitely book again well done Jet2 !"

"I have just got back from this hotel and my experience was not great. On the first day I was told my room would be ready within an hour of arriving, when I went back to check the receptionist lady came across quite rude and told me to keep waiting until she told me it was ready. I sat at the pool area and the bar staff lady spoke hardly any english and had little to no customer service skills. The pool area had a handful of people around it, everywhere in this hotel was silent there was no atmosphere, entertainment or any sort of music. After getting my room I noticed small bugs crawling around on the table and around the floor, when speaking to the man in reception he told me to wait till anything could be done and would not change my room until his manager went to see this. I waited 2 hours for his manager to check the room for the bugs and was told there was nothing there. I asked the receptionist man to come up to the room to see for himself but as he could only see one he said it was not good enough for a room change and stood there shrugging his shoulders at me. I showed him multiple videos and pictures of what it was like and explained the bugs kept moving from under the skirtings but they were definitely there as he had seen one and I had videos. I showed him the videos and pictures of them but he said he couldn’t see them so they aren’t there. I asked what other rooms were available and viewed these, one room smelt like damp and as a solo young woman I was not comfortable with my balcony/garden being right on the walkway, as well as the big glass doors being the only way to access the room. The shower was also covered by a faded glass door which if the curtains were opened you could see to! (Bottom floor rooms) He was not interested in giving me any sort of room upgrade even though the bugs were very much still there. A cleaner, called Ndeye came to my room and re-cleaned the floors she sprayed something and fortunately was no bugs after. She explained to me this was a common issue and they were ants. She said they are there from the people before me leaving food around in the room. (This should’ve been cleaned out before the next person in the room) Thankfully there were no bugs after this but it was a very difficult evening with the receptionist man who would not even apologise for the inconvenience. For the other few days I sunbathed on my balcony as by the pool it was silent. Bar staff were friendly, food was basic options a very small amount of options. One evening was Chinese style food - the 2 different flavours of chicken were both a bit pink on the inside when I cut into it. Very very quiet area nothing to do locally within walking distance, 2 shops on the road - no souvenir shops close only half hour walk away. Beach 15 minute walk away but not a beach you can lay down and relax on due to big rocks everywhere. I would say this hotel shouldn’t be a 4* from my experience and wasn’t great value."
