"We recently stayed here for our summer family holiday. While we still managed to enjoy our time away, largely because we were together as a family and the weather was fantastic, the hotel itself fell well short of our expectations for a four-star resort.
Check-in
Check-in was efficient enough, but it lacked any real introduction to the hotel. We weren’t advised that there were several other restaurants available to us, so we spent the entire week eating in the buffet restaurant, assuming that was our only option. Better communication on arrival would have made a significant difference to our stay.
The Room
We booked what was described as a two-bedroom apartment. In reality, only one bedroom had a door, and even that was a stiff concertina-style sliding door that was difficult to open and close. The second bedroom had no door at all, making privacy almost impossible.
The bathroom could be accessed from both bedrooms via separate doors, but the locks didn’t inspire much confidence. Sharing with two teenage children for the first time, it felt like there was very little privacy for anyone.
The apartment itself was quite basic. The furniture and fittings looked tired but serviceable. Storage was limited, with only a very small wardrobe and not nearly enough hanging space for a family holiday.
Housekeeping was inconsistent. Unless you placed your towels on the floor, they weren’t replaced. The floors often remained dusty with sand after cleaning, and on several occasions I had to wash my feet before putting on my socks because the floor hadn’t been cleaned properly.
Pool Areas
Like many Spanish resorts, the daily race for sunbeds was in full swing. Guests were reserving beds from around 6:30-7:00am, and by 9:30am it was almost impossible to find anywhere to sit around the main pool. Towels remained on loungers all day, with little evidence of any policy being enforced.
Only later did we discover there were another five pools around the resort. Nobody mentioned these at check-in. While they were quieter, they weren’t particularly convenient for us, as our children wanted to stay near the main entertainment pool where all the organised activities took place.
The entertainment team worked incredibly hard and deserve a special mention. They were energetic, friendly and kept both children and adults entertained throughout the day. The activities looked well organised and our children really enjoyed taking part. The only downside was the volume of the music, which was extremely loud from around 10am until lunchtime and then again from approximately 3pm onwards.
Food & Drink
The buffet restaurant was probably the biggest disappointment.
The menu barely changed throughout the week and became repetitive very quickly. There was only one day where chicken was served as a main option. The rest of the week consisted largely of pork dishes and dried fish, neither of which appealed to us. If you enjoy pork, you may be perfectly happy. If you don’t, your options become quite limited.
We later discovered there were other restaurants, but because nobody explained how these worked, we assumed they were reserved for guests on premium packages.
Wine was served from pump dispensers, offering basic red or white wine. When I asked if it was possible to purchase a better bottle of wine, I was repeatedly directed elsewhere. Likewise with cava—some staff would happily serve it while others refused. There didn’t appear to be any consistency in service.
Breakfast was equally underwhelming. The coffee was genuinely the worst hotel coffee I’ve ever tasted. I’m not particularly difficult to please when it comes to coffee, but this was almost undrinkable. In hindsight, I would honestly have been better bringing a jar of instant coffee from home. The only positive was that after a week without coffee, I felt surprisingly refreshed!
Beach Towels
Beach towels require a €20 deposit each. Although you receive the deposit back, the towels themselves were very worn and threadbare. I’d strongly recommend bringing your own beach towels if possible.
Check-out
Unfortunately, the check-out experience ended the holiday on a disappointing note.
We weren’t told until the day before departure that late check-out needed to be booked in advance. By then, there was no availability remaining, meaning we had to leave our room by 12 noon despite having a much later flight.
We were able to leave our luggage in a storage room, which was helpful, and after some negotiation we eventually managed to secure access to a shower before travelling home. However, the changing facilities were simply a communal room with no air conditioning. For a hotel marketed as four-star accommodation, it felt very basic and wasn’t what we expected.
After spending most of the day waiting to travel, the final few hours became unnecessarily uncomfortable and left us with a disappointing lasting impression.
Overall
This hotel certainly isn’t terrible. The weather was wonderful, the entertainment staff were excellent and our children had a fantastic holiday. However, the accommodation, housekeeping, communication, food quality and check-out experience all fell below what we’d expect from a four-star resort.
With better communication, more variety in the food, improved housekeeping and a fairer approach to sunbed reservations, this could be a much better hotel. Sadly, based on our experience, we wouldn’t choose to return."
