"An honest review from a couple with 14yo daughter visiting in close season (first half of our two week October half term). Visited a Eurocamp near Salou same time last year and got beautiful weather missing the horrendous (and some fatal) rain either side so tried our luck again and got lovely 25-30 degrees daily but did book the Magic Resort here specifically with Ultra All Inclusive so we could use Play Zone several times if it was raining (plus it had the indoor heated pool) but we didn't need it at all, nor did we even visit as like a lot of things in a October it was closed each time we passed. In fact quite a bit was closed, although having joined the Facebook group etc we were aware that various bits would be such as the Thalasso plus much reduced hours across the entire resort such as the restaurants and Magic Land. TLDR is we really enjoyed it, food and labelling was a bit disappointing and anything outside hotel is very/too quiet but indoor pool was great and found no issues with staff, just be aware the restrictions verses a summer visit although I'm sure if want to return then as I think it would be far too busy in summer with queues out of the door for everything.
Booked with easyJet Holidays for the 3 of us for 1200 quid with a private transfer, easily found at airport and was checking in around 1hr 10mins later. Just a couple of people in the queue and was assisted by a nice young bloke with good English and explained most things to us (although a map of the hotels and area would be a good idea). Mobile number taken as room not ready (as we arrived before noon) so settled down and now we had a room number and bands I started booking our restaurant and hotel visits on the "app" (website really) during which time they switched our room and it was ready immediately rather than "anytime up til 4pm" although apparently the UK phone number often work so the young man had to look for us to let us know. Our basketball room was nice, upgraded slightly to a pool view and fitted out well although an extra chair for the balcony would be nice (folding ones maybe if space was an issue?).
Plenty of food available at the buffet and always found enough to fill us up although it might not necessarily be exactly what we wanted. Sure, it probably is more aimed at the bigger majority Spanish guests (there were a only few English voices around at the beginning of the week but a lot more towards the end as proper half term started) and I have no issues with this but it would be nice to have it labelled for others correctly. Sports had eink labels above the dishes but they were updated or broken (with several foods being labeled as battered cauliflower all week long including at breakfast, although as we saw several platters of vegetables first thing in a morning on occasion it wouldn't be a big stretch to imagine it may have been there at brekky! In fact some did look like they may have been left there overnight). The layout was a little annoying with a long queue in front of all the dishes as people waited for whatever (normally fish) being fried fresh, by the end of the week we had fully embraced the Spanish way of queueing and should you want something with a queue in front, just push in and get it, they don't care as this is exactly how they handle it should you not be waiting for fish. The other small buffet room which wasn't open until the end of week as it got busier was better laid out with a lot more on an aisle in the middle however no kitchen here so food was cooler as it back to be brought across and also ran out quicker. The food wasn't always the hottest, there were microwaves provided but they also were in the behind the queue. I think a little more variety than some random meat in sauce plus fresh fish by having theme nights would have helped but there was always chips, rice and pasta. Having said that I though the cakes did have a little more variety.
We did try to visit Magic Land on the first night surely before closing but it was already locked up and we were turned aware, we heard no rides running nor any people even walking away down the street. The Fantasy hotel visit included the splash park with a few more different slides than we already had at Sports so stayed there for a morning and afternoon with a buffet in the hotel in-between. The staff here made more of an effort with labeling and it was a nice change to Sports. Games hotel had a tiny pool and the buffet room was quite warm so didn't stay long but did check out the small museum although I'd have like to see some more retro consoles there rather than mockups of weapons etc and maybe have some to play on not just in reception? Out of all the hotels I much preferred the larger Sports, with it's bigger facilities such as the buffets and bar, the slides and warmer indoor pool which was also preferred over the cooler and dirtier outdoor pool.
We like to walk after dinner but found our with very little to visit, the shop generally are either shut or closing, there's a large shop opposite the hotel which sells lots of different things from Lego to food, we bought surprisingly cheap plasters after I stacked it on a run out of town, things like resistance bands were only a couple of euros, however it does run on what we called "Spanish time" as the hours on the door stated 9:30pm closing yet we were told to leave just after 9pm.
Theres a Mercadona up near Magic Land for more specific foods. There a small marina nearby but it had no boats in it when we were there. The prom is lit for the most part but only with small deck lights at not much more than knee height which may put some people off. We also found 3-4 pigs wandering around the area one night, no idea where they came from. It's pretty dead in October, there was the odd bar or pizza restaurant open but very little nor was there many people in them.
The staff did speak some English but less than those on reception but it wasn't a problem, I had been learning a little Spanish via Duolingo and it was appreciated by the reception most of all despite them knowing the most English (although it did backfire on me during the taxi ride after managing to ask if he lived in Valencia, he ended his attempts at broken English and just assumed I spoke near perfect Spanish!) after asking we certainly didn't find issues or rudeness.
All in all we had a lovely week here, we did miss a bit of life outside on our after dinner walk but suspect it would be much livelier in peak season however I'm not sure I'd trade up just for that, think it would be too busy in resort but I'd certainly return outside if peak times."
