"We have just returned from a two-week stay at TUI Magic Life Redsina and overall had an enjoyable holiday, thanks largely to some exceptional staff members and excellent facilities.
A special mention must go to Mohammad, our room cleaner in Section 18B, who kept our room spotless throughout our stay and was always friendly and helpful. We'd also like to thank Islam, Assistant Captain at the Magico Restaurant, whose customer service was outstanding, and Mohammed the lifeguard, who was attentive and professional throughout our stay.
The rooms are spacious, comfortable and well designed, with plenty of storage and a useful area on the balcony/terrace for drying swimwear. The air conditioning was excellent, keeping the room refreshingly cool and providing much-needed respite from the Egyptian heat.
During our first week, the resort felt relaxed and enjoyable with a really good atmosphere around the pool. The aqua fitness sessions and pool games were well organised and helped create a fun, social environment without being intrusive. Unfortunately, the second week was noticeably busier, and this exposed what appeared to be a shortage of sunbeds around the pools. As guests who preferred beds near the accessibility steps, we often found ourselves getting up at 4:30am to secure a suitable spot. It frequently appeared that some sunbeds had been reserved long before they were used, and on several occasions beds remained empty all day while other guests struggled to find somewhere to sit.
The food was generally good, although after two weeks the buffet became quite repetitive. We visited all of the à la carte restaurants and, whilst each offered something different, the Egyptian restaurant was by far our favourite and provided the best dining experience. That said, one visit to each restaurant was enough for us.
The biggest operational challenge was the long queues at the bars, particularly around the pool areas. There simply didn't seem to be enough staff available during busy periods, which resulted in lengthy waits for drinks.
The pool areas could also become untidy, with empty cups often left around sunbeds and tables for several hours before being cleared away. At times this made parts of the pool area look dirty and grubby, which detracted from an otherwise pleasant environment.
Another concern was that the no-glass-around-the-pool policy did not appear to be consistently enforced. During our stay we witnessed several accidents involving glass close to the pool areas, creating unnecessary safety risks.
We also experienced a power cut one morning that lasted around an hour, and on a separate occasion the Wi-Fi was unavailable for approximately an hour. Whilst neither issue significantly impacted our holiday, they were noticeable interruptions during our stay.
The evening entertainment was mixed. The fire show was excellent and one of the highlights of our stay. However, many of the evening events seemed to rely heavily on encouraging guests to dance or participate, rather than providing a wider variety of entertainment. A broader programme with more professional shows or performances would have enhanced the evening experience.
One simple improvement that would enhance the guest experience would be the installation of a large, visible clock around the main pool area to allow guests to keep track of time, while relaxing in the pool.
Summary
Overall, we had a good holiday and there is a lot to like about TUI Magic Life Redsina. The resort benefits from spacious, comfortable rooms, excellent air conditioning, hardworking staff and some very good dining experiences, particularly in the Egyptian restaurant. Staff members such as Mohammad in Section 18B, Islam at Magico Restaurant and Mohammed the lifeguard helped make our stay enjoyable through their professionalism and friendly service.
However, the resort appeared to struggle during busier periods. Whilst our first week was relaxing, the second week felt overcrowded, particularly around the pools where sunbed availability became a daily challenge. Long bar queues, slow clearing of empty cups, occasional service interruptions and inconsistent enforcement of pool safety rules detracted from the overall experience. With better sunbed management, increased poolside staffing, improved housekeeping, stricter enforcement of the no-glass policy, a more varied entertainment programme and simple additions such as visible clocks around the pool areas, this hotel could deliver a much more consistent guest experience.
Whilst we enjoyed many aspects of our stay and appreciated the efforts of the staff, the overcrowding, sunbed situation and some of the operational issues mean that we are not currently convinced we would return to this particular hotel. That said, other guests may have a different experience, especially during quieter periods."
