"I genuinely do not know where to begin because there were so many problems during our stay. I have stayed at another all-inclusive resort in Egypt before, so I have something to compare this with. Unfortunately, this resort fell very far below the standard I expected.
The resort itself is huge, with attractive grounds, several pools and an Aqua Park. It looks impressive from the outside and is relatively close to the airport. Unfortunately, the problems become obvious once you actually stay there.
Our first room was a huge family-style room with three beds despite being two people. We moved the following morning, but both rooms had similar issues. The bathrooms smelled unpleasant and looked poorly cleaned. There was heavily discoloured grout, cracks, a visibly stained toilet and dirty glass around the edges. We had to ask the cleaner to clean the bathroom again. Ironically, the toilet had a sticker saying it had been “cleaned and sanitised”.
The resort may be old, but age is not the problem. Poor maintenance and inadequate cleaning are.
THE FOOD
This was the biggest problem.
The buffet was supposedly all-inclusive, yet staff controlled portions, particularly meat and other proteins. Asking for more could result in looks and an attitude that made you feel guilty for wanting food. I paid for an all-inclusive holiday. I should not feel uncomfortable asking for another portion.
The food was often bland and unappealing. On several occasions, chicken and beef tasted sour or questionable. Some chicken appeared to contain sand or grit, and some beef appeared undercooked.
After eating at the resort, I developed severe watery diarrhoea lasting several days. I cannot medically confirm the cause, and my boyfriend did not become ill, but the food and hygiene concerns we personally witnessed made me seriously question the food-handling standards.
At the outdoor cooking station, I saw utensils reused between different ingredients, including potentially allergenic foods, with utensils placed on the counter and reused. The cooking area was also exposed to dust and sand.
The “all-inclusive” experience felt heavily restricted. We were not allowed to take food back to our room. Even ice cream was limited to small cones, and we were told we could not use a bowl for a larger serving. Fresh juice was also sold separately beside the buffet.
It felt less like hospitality and more like rationing and monetising everything.
AQUA PARK & FIRST AID
The Aqua Park was genuinely fun, but I injured my knee and elbow on a slide. My knee became swollen and painful, the injury bled and I later noticed discharge.
What concerned me most was what happened afterwards.
We asked for first aid and were sent between receptions. The first aid box was almost empty, containing only basic items such as plasters, gauze, iodine and tape. There were no gloves and nobody properly assessed my injury. The box was essentially handed to us to deal with ourselves.
For a large resort with multiple pools and an Aqua Park, I expected proper first aid arrangements and trained staff. Nobody followed up or checked how I was afterwards.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
The overall hospitality was poor. Communication was frequently abrupt and focused on what guests could not do. I have stayed at another Egyptian resort, so I know this is not simply “how Egypt is”. The difference was enormous.
The final straw was checkout. Our flight was at 10 p.m. and checkout was at noon. We were passed between approximately four people while repeatedly explaining our situation, eventually being told that just two extra hours would cost $50. Even after explaining that I had been injured on the resort premises, there was little consideration.
FINAL VERDICT
There were positives: the resort is large, the grounds are attractive, the Aqua Park was fun before my injury, and the seafood à la carte restaurant was better than the buffet.
But beautiful grounds cannot compensate for poor cleanliness, questionable food hygiene, inadequate first aid and poor guest care.
A holiday is not a photograph. You have to sleep in the room, use the bathroom, eat the food, interact with staff and feel safe when something goes wrong.
For me, this resort failed where it mattered most.
I would give 0 stars if I could. Even 1 star feels generous.
I would not recommend this resort. If cleanliness, food hygiene, guest safety and basic hospitality matter to you, I would seriously consider looking elsewhere."
