Exploring Caleta de Fuste…
Soak up the sun
Caleta de Fuste has no shortage of golden paradises to kick back and relax in, take a refreshing dip or enjoy some water sports. The main beach, Caleta de Fuste beach, is a paradise of fine, white golden sand perfect for families to enjoy. For something a little bigger, head to Corralejo’s main beach, where you can sail to Isla de Lobos for a mystical experience. If you want a secluded spot surrounded by nature, the beaches in Corralejo Natural Reserve will more than do the job.
The Fuerteventura Golf Club in Caleta de Fuste is the perfect spot to kick back and relax whilst sinking some putts. The 18-hole golf course is a striking oasis of rolling green hills surrounded by the coast on one side and the volcanic mountains on the other. Designed by Juan Catarineu, it’s a must-visit for experienced golfers and novices alike.
Water park fun
For the perfect family day out, visit Corralejo’s Acua Water Park. The water park caters for everyone in the family, from big and twisty slides for the thrill-seekers to baby-friendly areas for the little ones to splash in. It also boasts a solarium to work on your tan and a jacuzzi, in case you fancy relaxing after catching one of the wild shows.
Visit the Salt Museum
Just a stone’s throw from Caleta de Fuste is Las Salinas del Carmen, a small fishing village home to the Salt Museum. Part of the Network of Museums of Fuerteventura, which is committed to educating about the island’s local culture, the museum first opened in 1910. From the modern interior where you can learn about Fuerteventura’s salt production, to the actual saline site, it’s a great way to learn about Fuerteventura’s traditional salt-making processes.
The Canary Islands’ eclectic multicultural history is reflected in the islands’ rich cuisine. The delicious gastronomy is the result of trading with the many cultures sailing by the islands’ ports. This gives it a unique vibe that makes it stand out from the rest of Spain. Despite this, national favourites like tapas and paella still feature on every menu. Although you’d be forgiven for taking this option more than once, we definitely recommend trying dishes native to the region like a bienmesabe dessert or a touch of mojo sauce to go with your main.
Caleta de Fuste Restaurants
Caleta de Fuste has a varied selection of restaurants serving everything from fresh seafood cooked Spanish style to international cuisine. La Paella, a lively restaurant by the beach, is a must-visit.
