"We have just returned from 10 days at these apartments on a self-catering basis and sadly, have to agree with some of the more negative comments posted recently.
Just to start with a couple of positives first:-
The apartments, pool area and hotel generally are very clean and the rooms cleaned to a very good standard. They aren’t huge rooms, but are functional and the balcony was nice.
It was lovely to not have to get up at silly o’clock to get a sun-bed. There were plenty of you came down at 11:00am and the pool was nice.
The location is great - busy but not overcrowded, some nice local cafes and only a 10 minute walk or so to the beach area.
A few negatives I’m afraid:-
We arrived late on Wednesday evening ready to get organised, drop our stuff and go for a quick drink before bed. However, as reviewers have mentioned, there is no air-conditioning, just a fan that blows the air around. To get the fan to work you need a controller from Reception at a cost of €50 each room, cash only. So for us with two rooms that’s €100 cash already. It’s a returnable deposit, but when you’ve budgeted to bring some cash with you and part of it has gone immediately, that’s not great. Anyway, after a desperate, prolonged search of the remote control box they couldn’t find the ones for our rooms. They then told me that I didn’t need a controller, I just needed to download an app which would connect to the fan, which would then work. No need for a deposit, so that was good news. Except as the WiFi wasn’t great, we couldn’t download the app so couldn’t get the blower to work. After several attempts, not what you need when you arrive late, tired and hungry, we managed to do it, connect and get the fan working. As I say, it wasn’t air conditioning but better than nothing as the rooms were stifling.
I was told that I needed to put my key card, which I assumed was my door key card, into the safe in my room to operate it. After several attempts when it still wasn’t working and my patience was fraying a little as I needed to deposit passports etc as you do, I was then told you need to buy a separate key card at a cost of €27 (non refundable). Of course it worked perfectly but why didn’t they just tell us that in the first place? Unnecessarily frustrating.
On our penultimate day, we came down to see a notice that the pool would be closed for maintenance until 2:00pm. These things happen of course and we understand that the pool needs to be safe so we went off for a while and came back for just after 2:00pm. The pool was still closed. I asked at Reception and they said it would be open by 3:00pm. No problem. I asked why it was closed as there was no information anywhere and the lady said as it had rained the previous night, the ph levels were not right. I understand that of course. However, it did not open at all that day, with no additional information. I just think it would have helped to update the notices and keep everyone informed (there were a few families waiting around for most of the day). It’s just about communication really.
I’m sure the guys at Reception are lovely and certainly no-one was ever rude or dismissive but there was never a sense of urgency, of them trying to sort a problem out, (air con and safe would be my examples). We were kind of just left to get on with it. When we needed a little help, it just didn’t happen.
When we arrived we were given a sheet with the hotel rules on. Fair enough…there’s nothing wrong with establishing expectations. But perhaps get your own house in order first? A sheet to clearly explain how to get the blowers working in your room? Or what you need to do as regards the safe. None of that was clear at all and as I say, that is all exacerbated when you are tired and hungry. And I do find it strange that I am charged for what is surely a visitor necessity - a safe. At least make it a refundable deposit. But a non refundable charge of £25 seems as though it is just taking advantage. Who doesn’t need a safe when they arrive?
Would we come again? Sadly no. It was ok…but not great and they just caused their own problems in the end. Competition is so great that I think there are elements particularly around customer relations that could be drastically improved. I don’t believe it is a language barrier….one reviewer has mentioned staff training and I think that is spot on. Agree 100%
We are not fussy or picky….but some of these things are just basics and there is definitely room for improvement, with the greatest respect.
I hope this is helpful."
