"I was really looking forward to checking in to this hotel and being looked after for the week. Unfortunately, despite this hotel’s impressive interior, and the generally pleasant staff; what is offered is far from an all-inclusive experience.
Let’s start with the good:
- beautiful hotel
- Very clean
- Rooms are very nice
- pleasant staff (overall)
The not so good:
It was really expensive for what turned out to be actually on offer.
There are hidden charges at every turn and I was moved from areas of the hotel twice, when told I didn’t have the “gold band”.
Some issues to highlight:
- the “all-inclusive” ends at 11pm. However, the bar remains open for an hour and you must pay for your drinks after this time.
- sunbeds are booked on the app but you must pay extra for a lot of the nice ones, or the beds in a good location, you also do not have access to a certain area of beds even with all-inclusive.
- The roofless bar closes at 5pm, there’s also no snack menu available from there.
- Snacks behind the other bars are an extra charge.
- The bar with a snack menu stops this service at 5pm.
- Select drinks available, but a LOT of the popular cocktails are on a separate menu that must be paid for.
- The quality of the buffet food is okay, not great. Often cold.
- My shower flooded on first use, presumably due to lack of maintenance but this was rectified quickly by helpful staff.
- There is an à la carte restaurant I was told I had access to for one night in my 4-night stay. No problem. A friend joined me on the same booking but was only staying for two nights. The hotel wanted to charge us an extra €36 for her to join me for dinner, because she was “only staying for 2 nights”. Extremely poor policy, given that if we only have access to it once in a week then surely it doesn’t matter when it’s used.
Overall it felt like every turn was an opportunity to squeeze more money out of supposedly “all-inclusive” guests. I felt uncomfortable and embarrassed at times in the hotel, unsure if I was sitting in the right area or would be moved. None of this tiered service was explained to me when I booked in initially and it’s not clearly laid out in the hotel either.
It did not meet my expectations as an all-inclusive experience whatsoever and would be far more accurately described as “full-board”, with meals and select drinks covered. Not all-inclusive.
I left the hotel during a lot of my stay to eat and drink on the much more reasonably priced promenade in Costa Adeje."
