"Just back home from our First time to Menorca and we stopped at the Lord Nelson in Sant Tomàs. Having read lots of the comments on here you do have to read between the lines. For what we paid for a week’s all inclusive we had a great time. We stayed in a bungalow in the hotels grounds, the room was spacious and comfortable had a decent sized walk in shower. Wardrobe was fine, room could have benefitted from some more storage space but wasn’t the be and end all. Loved how close it was to the beach and the sunsets were amazing along with the clear blue waters, if you have walking issues there is a ramp and a mat on the sand to aid you into the sea. Nice walks from the hotel on the cami de cavills, one which headed towards son bou was lovely. Food wise, breakfast was always something to choose from, be it continental, meats and cheeses or the good old fashioned fry up! Lunch times were had the choice of the AI food by the Pool or head into the restaurant, again always something to choose from. Evening meals however were a bit bland. Always a pasta dish or three! Then a fish or meat choice , the hotel was getting ready to close so looked like They were using up everything they had. My wife is coeliac and lactose free the food was labelled which was a great help, there was cross contamination which we witnessed so chose to avoid those dishes Pool area was fine, time of year we stayed loads of sunbed free you get to know where the sun is each day to pick your spot. The area is very quiet but equally lovely which might not suit everyone, not your normal holiday resort with lots of bars, restaurants and gift shops and selling excursions To sum up the week, for what we paid for a week it was perfect for a relaxing week in the sun and did exactly that, also being adults only made it even better!!!"

"The first time we have booked with Jet 2 Holidays whom we cannot fault in terms of their service in all areas however they along with the other tour operators need to urgently review the Globales Lord Nelson, Sant Thomas, Menorca. Stated as a four star it doesn't even warrant a 3 star. When you first arrive and after paying a hefty 48 euros for a couple on tourist tax - not their fault of course - you then find they want 10 euros a day for the car park so for a week that's a further 70 Euros. If that whets your appetite for being ripped off you then find that a further £10 Euros a day are required to hire an old key operated room safe. So you are on the way to almost 200 Euros before you even reach your room. On the safe front you can get this for a week rate of 38 euros. If you go half board no drinks other than water is provided so no tea / coffee with breakfast and not even a soft drink with dinner. This is only for the all inclusive folk. You can however pay a per day drinks package for additional cost, surprise surprise. This is not a good Hotel so I will start with the main negatives. The cold buffet breakfast was pretty standard and adequate however the evening food you would be hard pushed to say is average, it wasn't even that good. Nothing far short of very poor across the board. A Rodent was spotted in the restaurant near the cheeses but an employee clubbed it with a broom in front of guests, charming. The rooms were pretty small with a lack of hanging space / wardrobes, pretty basic, have stayed in better premier inn rooms. Our balcony sliding doors were hard to open with the handles hanging off and screws slipping out. walls were thin and difficult to sleep with noise from adjoining rooms plus dreadful noise and entertainment from next door. Don't stay in lower numbered rooms like 205, 305 etc. Our shower cubical had black mould around the seals of the shower tray - very poor indeed. This 5 floor large hotel has two tiny lifts, 3 people maxi, two if you have luggage. One was not operational the whole week we were there. The doors to the toilets next to the eating areas were disgusting and heavily rotting at the bottom. The pool area and pool bar were looking very tired and not very appealing. Outside of all inclusive they wouldn't take cash, only card. Cant talk too much about the entertainment, it was utter rubbish. Overall the staff were in some cases off hand and none were overly friendly except our room cleaner who was excellent. The overall cleanliness of the hotel was pretty good but looking around closely you could see that maintenance was not high on the list. Now the good bits which you cant really attribute to the hotel. Location of Sant Thomas on the Southern coast is very central for the whole island but you need a car as public transport sucks and taxis very expensive. The island deserves to be explored it's beautiful. The beach here is very nice but if you want a sun bed then that's 10 euros a day. Not much in Sant Thomas but its pleasant enough with a very nice restaurant with good food overlooking the beach at the very far end. Ratings out of 10.
