"A well located hotel about 10 minutes from the beach and a couple of minutes from a small supermarket and a great bike/car hire shop that also does excursions. Basically apart from the bedrooms- the hotel consists of a ground floor -divided into 3 areas. The reception centrally and a lounge bar to the right and a corridor to the dining room and also the outdoor pool area to the left. The pool area is in an attractive, shady, sheltered garden with around 90 sunbeds (March) and a terrace and café area. there are no activities at this hotel. The gym is at the Rui Concordia just a bit down the road and you can go if you get a pass from reception for the week. Reception staff are great, so very helpful with maps and suggestions. Towels for the pool are 10e refundable from reception. Only complaint is that the smoking sofas are directly outside the door so of course the smoke all blows in to every area. The lounge is uncomfortable to sit in because of this if you don't like a smoky atmosphere. I thought those days were gone but being a 95% German hotel this is not the case. Many smokers surprisingly. Despite that the evening entertainment is well attended with 4 nights only of background/ easy listening type singers. The audience play cards and read, it is a multifunctional area as it borders the reception. Drinks were reasonable, lg beer plus lg wine =6.85e. Our room was on 4th floor overlooking the pool, a great room with modern bathroom, hot shower, good hairdryer, fridge and sun all day on the balcony this time of year. Ceiling fan and air con in the room but no iron or kettle . Everything spotless. Regarding the dining room this is very casual. Long trousers for the gents but no one dresses up. I saw 2 skirts/dresses all the week! Mostly shirts/blouses and cardigans/fleeces on the ladies! The food is great, lots of choice and all quality meats. There was a carvery joint every night, always pasta choices and fresh thin pizza (delicious) and plenty of salad variations. A 'spotlight' table that ranged from sweets and a chocolate fountain to Italian specialities. So much choice and plenty of vegetables, even gravy and roast potatoes and always some sort of chips if you are not adventurous. Drinks can be put to your room bill but ask the price as there is no copy to keep a tally. The tables are VERY close together, almost touching elbows. The ones with a little more room go first and some devious methods were employed to make sure they were reserved. Obviously the seating arrangements made everyone feel uncomfortable and something needs doing about this. It was the worst part of the holiday for us -being the only English couple we came across- as enjoying your evening meal is part of the experience. Still ,having said that, we enjoyed the quality of the food enormously all credit to the chefs. If you have an early departure they will open the dining room from 3am for a selection of cold continental breakfast items and hot coffee, very appreciated. As mentioned the shops are near and water is cheap at 5L 2e but small supermarkets do not sell bread. To go to Palma it is the 25 bus from outside the Rui Concordia bus stop 7 (Baleari 7) , cost of 2e and this goes straight to the Cathedral and parks down the side road next to it. You get back on at the same place and the return journey is longer as you get a good tour of the town included! The cathedral is 11e entry or 25e if you want to walk the top terraces (137 steep winding stone steps but well worth it for fantastic views) You do not have to book on line, just get in the queue down the side, not the front and you can pay at the desk on a card. Recommend St Francis church, a short walk away, 6e entry and even more breath-taking inside than the Cathedral in my opinion, well worth a look if you have the time. We hired bikes from the MOMA RENT A CAR shop 100 yards away. A nicer guy you couldn't hope to meet. Full of local info, maps, great service and only 10e for the WHOLE day till 7.30pm. 20e for an ebike. Bikes have baskets, locks and helmets are available in the price. Lots of tips on personal safety, where to park etc. Fantastic, and the Rui Festival has an arrangement with him to store bikes in their lock up if you keep them longer. He also does cars and excursions/ boat trips. It is about an hours steady ride to Palma on mostly flat well surfaced bike lanes, a revelation and so easy. It is about 13km. Mostly tourists on them but some 'serious lycra clad guys' who overtake now and then. Well recommended both the hotel and the bike hire, made our holiday. Thank you team."
