"booked 10 days here via Jet2 arriving late June into early July 2026. I had emailed in advance asking if a room on the first floor of a block could be made available to us, reply was the usual we will do our best. Happily I think the request had been noted as we were handed room 4071 which is on the first floor overlooking the pool.
The apartment was spacious and unusually for us, the electricity was not cut off when you left the room. No card slot so the air conditioning could be left on when out, giving a beautifully cool room on our return. Weather was very warm so that fact was much appreciated.
The room was well furnished with everything we needed for our stay. Beds were comfy and with air con in the bedroom too, sleep was not a problem. Wardrobes were large enough for all our clothes to hang nicely, with plenty of drawer space for socks, underwear etc. The room safe was inside a wardrobe and at 1.8 euro per day, very reasonably priced. A 9 euro deposit was needed, but this was returned on handing back the key safe. The kitchen was a large galley type with immense cupboard space, and had enough utensils, crockery and glasses to cater for our needs. We only prepared breakfast, choosing to eat out for other meals, but the two ring hob made short work of frying bacon or scrambling eggs.
The bathroom was another large space with a wash basin surrounded by a large shelf to hold all of your toiletries. The shower was over a bath with a large screen to prevent overspill, and the water was always lovely and warm. The same was true in the kitchen, always warm water to do the washing up.
The room had a large balcony with table and chairs, along with a large drying rack for washing. Very pleasant to sit out and watch the world go by with a beer or a wine.
The pool area was massive with an abundance of sunbeds, getting one was never a problem during our stay. Umbrellas were available by asking the lifeguard to fetch one for you. The pool was well used later in the day, families seemed to prefer to come down when it was cooler with the kids, so the pool was an oasis to relax in during the mornings/afternoons.
There is a small shopping complex (El Pueblo) very nearby with a reasonably well stocked Hiperdino, but a Superdino is not far away and prices there were a lot less than in El Pueblo centre. The centre also boasted three eateries for evening meals along with a similar amount of cafes for breakfasts and lunches. There are two or three sports bars so the World Cup featured too. A clutch of souvenir shops completes the line up.
The Marina Rubicon is an easy walk along the promenade that runs from Papagayo to the other end of Playa Blanca. We walked it several times and our app said it was 3.84 miles to the Barcelo and back using this route. For those who do not want to walk, the local bus terminates outside Caybeach, runs half hourly for most of the day in the week, and costs 1.40 euro however far you travel. Very reliable but one of the late night runs does not run Saturday and Sunday so beware.
All in all I feel Caybeach Papagayo is in a great position to chill locally, or venture into the much busier Playa Blanca. The complex offers everything you need for a great stay so would heartily recommend."
