"Upon arrival, we were required to pay a €100 deposit relating to hotel rules, including noise, damages and drug use. While we understood the purpose of this, it quickly became apparent that these rules were not being enforced.
The receptionist was unhelpful from the get go. We asked for a glass of water after travelling and were laughed at and refused. Prior to arrival I had emailed to ask whether rooms included a fridge and never received a response. When we asked at reception, we were simply told to “ask in the morning.” We later found out that a fridge would cost an additional €5.50 per night, which is okay but it would’ve been nice to have a fridge.
The room itself wasn’t terrible, but cleanliness was not up to standard. There was what appeared to be a bogey smeared on the wall directly above the pillow.
The biggest issue throughout our stay was the atmosphere and behaviour of other guests. At around 2am on our first night, guests next door were blasting music despite hotel rules stating music is not allowed during certain hours. At around 7am we were woken by loud banging. When I politely knocked to ask if they could keep the noise down, I was greeted by three young men who appeared heavily intoxicated and were inhaling balloons despite signs throughout the hotel stating nitrous oxide is strictly prohibited.
From our balcony we could see a rooftop opposite covered with dozens of large nitrous oxide canisters. While this may not be directly controlled by the hotel, it did little to inspire confidence given everything else we experienced.
Things only got worse during the stay. The guests next door continued playing loud music and repeatedly inflating balloons late into the night. Security were present on our floor level and appeared to take no action whatsoever. The guests themselves told us they had paid security to avoid being removed from the hotel for drug use and other rule breaches. Which is concerning because security is appearing to be corrupt and they are meant to be protecting guests.
We also experienced issues with housekeeping. We placed the sign on the door requesting cleaning and left the room tidy. When we returned, the door had not been properly locked. The room had not been cleaned at all. The bed had not been made, bins had not been emptied, dirty towels had not been removed and the floor had not been cleaned. The only thing that had been done was replacement towels being left on the bed.
Unfortunately, those towels were filthy. They contained visible stains including what appeared to be dried blood, snot, dirt and other marks. Reception were apologetic when we showed them the towels and provided us with replacement towels, but those towels were also dirty.
We also reported that the shower was unusable because it constantly switched between freezing cold and scolding hot. A maintenance worker eventually showed up but simply showed us how to turn the tap without properly testing the issue. The problem remained unresolved.
The most concerning incident occurred when one of the male guests from the room next door repeatedly stood on a chair to look over the high privacy wall separating the balconies. My friend and I are two young women in our twenties and were in our room in swimwear at the time. He could clearly see directly into our room. He was smoking what appeared to be cannabis, flicking ash onto our balcony and repeatedly asking us for a lighter. After we refused, and shut our balcony door he looked over again, knocked repeatedly on our window, banged loudly against the wall and later hung two bags of drugs over our balcony. We have video evidence of this behaviour. The same guests then came to our room multiple times asking for a lighter and whether we drank.
At this point we felt genuinely uncomfortable and unsafe. We contacted our holiday provider to request a room move or hotel change. We were advised to report the behaviour to security, but given what we had already witnessed and the lack of action taken throughout our stay, we did not feel confident that doing so would improve the situation or protect our safety as the security appear to be corrupt, and reporting this may result in us having more implications.
The frustrating part is that the hotel advertises strict policies on noise and drug use, yet throughout our stay we witnessed behaviour that appeared completely inconsistent with those policies. In addition to the incidents involving our neighbours, I personally witnessed individuals who were snorting drugs around the pool area during the daytime. Combined with the repeated use of nitrous oxide throughout the hotel, it created an atmosphere that felt far removed from what was advertised. We even saw balloons left openly on a table in reception, which summed up the contradictions perfectly.
The only positives were Anás at reception, Anás escorted us to breakfast as we felt too scared to even leave the room. Another member of staff apologised for the housekeeping issues arranged complimentary drinks, they were happy to upgrade us when I asked and allowed us to extend to late check out for free which was much appreciated.
The food was also disappointing. We booked on a half-board basis, which included breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was generally acceptable and offered a reasonable selection. It The food that was supposed to be hot was almost always cold. The buffet heating equipment clearly wasn’t keeping food at an appropriate temperature, and on most evenings the soup was the only item that was actually hot. Given that dinner is one of only two meals included in the package, this was very disappointing. Guests are also only provided with water during dinner, with any other drinks costing extra.
Overall, between the cleanliness issues, poor maintenance, disruptive guests, lack of apparent rule enforcement and feeling unsafe in our own room, this wasn’t a good experience despite them being accommodating in the end due to the inconveniences, the positives certainly don’t outweigh the negatives and the immense anxiety this caused me. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday or are a family especially with young children please do not come here."
