"Where to start.....whilst this was a pleasant enough hotel I would not class it as adult only for many reasons and I would say certain areas are questionable with regards to being four star.
The check in and out was somewhat slow and when you need to speak to the one person that is on reception, this also takes some time and when making requests for specific birthdays etc, these get ignored as we found out.
Our terrace room was clean and tidy and while some say they are dated, we found it adequate for sleeping and showering. Although the minibar did not get restocked and even when I made a request to the Guest Relations lady on around the 4th day, she advised that you have to pay to have it restocked but she would have a complimentary restock the following day.....this never happened.
On our first evening after taking my first mouthful of food, which was a fresh raw vegetable slaw of some kind I sensed a gritty sensation between my teeth and then felt something which at first I thought may be a small bone.
After a short while, managing not to swallow anything I was able to spit out what was in my mouth where I found to my horror a small shard of glass. I immediately called over a member of waiting staff who apologised, took my plate, complete with the piece of glass and left for the kitchen.
I then proceeded to get another plate, but first I went to the offending dish where there was a chef looking through it, I advised him what happened and again he was apologetic. As I proceeded to get some more food, a member of staff asked me for my room number, which I gave, thinking that there would be some kind of follow up from management, this of course never happened.
It was quite frightening to think what could have happened had I swallowed this and I had to put it to the back of my mind as I did not want this to spoil the next 9 days of our holiday.
The pool area is very pleasant and clean, you do need to get up early to reserve a sunbed as at times there were not enough for everyone, which is a pain and not what you come on holiday to do. Perhaps they could look at a reservation system like some hotels do, where you pick an available spot on you first day and this is your spot for the rest of the holiday.
The pools themselves were rather small and not the easiest to get in an out of if you have any physical disabilities. There is a shallow jacuzzi pool, ideal for cooling off with a book and another very shallow pool for cooling off. The pool for swimming is somewhat small.
At various intervals during the day you can hear the poolside activites and entertainment, which can be quite loud, so if you are looking for a peaceful ADULT only holiday, this is not for you.
The bar could definitely do with more than one member of staff serving, as it can be quite irritating when you are having to queue for a drink.
The Verde Bar would be great to relax in at night pre and post dinner, if it were not for the adjoining sister hotel blaring out the evening entertainment, this completely ruins the music in the Verde bar and can get quite noisy, it really doesn't create an adult only vibe and spoils the ambience of the Verde Bar. You can order various cocktails and branded drinks in the Verde bar, although the cocktails are limited and are not available on request.
The Lobby bar is limited with drinks, especially branded and can get quite busy and noisy as this is for use for guests in the sister hotel too.
I couldn't quite understand the concept of having to cross through the sister hotel to get to the Verde bar either.
The Atlantico restaurant was pleasant enough, there were some splendid dishes, some intricate and tasty dishes which we enjoyed the first week but after that it all gets very repetitive.
For people that prefer plain food there is always a host of rice and pasta dishes and plenty of chips, personally we like to try new things and do not wish to eat what we can cook at home.
One of the reasons for this holiday was for my daughters 30th Birthday, I spoke to the Guest Relations lady at the Royal Level and asked for something to be put in our room, she was very stand offish and advise she could arrange some prosecco and chocolates but they do not do decoration of any kind, I advised this would be most acceptable and also could we have a little something to acknowledge my daughters birthday when we went to the a la carte Italian evening, to which she said she would arrange something.
Neither of my requests were granted, there was never anything in the room nor was there anything for our table at the a la carte.
I did notice however, that there were two other tables with an abundance of decoration and flowers at the a la carte, where we also noticed the service was very slow. People that arrived after us were served before us, they also did not serve the correct starter for my daughter and after the main course we gave up waiting to be served and left.
Whilst we made the most of our holiday and had an enjoyable time, the glass incident along with other disappointments marred the holiday.
I did put a complaint it and got a very long winded and unsatisfactory response, which I replied to, a lady called Marianna Caminito responded and seemed to be sincere, offering explanations, apologies and a special rate for our next stay, asking me for further details. I updated her as to what happened and advised would hold back from placing my review thus giving her a chance to offer a special rate and try to make amends, sent on 7th September, I have sent two further emails since and have had no reply whatsoever.
Which shows how much the establishment care about their guests.
This was our first time on the beautiful Island of Fuerteventura and whilst we plan on returning, it will not be to this hotel.
We have had others recommended."
