"I will give a true and honest view of the Elba Carlota Beach & Golf Resort Hotel on Fuerteventura. My personal opinion at the end. Our stay was for 10 nights on a half board basis.
Location: excellent, close to beach and near to main town for bars and restaurants. Only 20 minutes walk along the promenade or a short taxi journey costing between 3 and 4 euros. Reception happy to order taxis.
The room:
On entering, the room was a good size with a small balcony having a table and two chairs. The furniture was clean but dated.
Small wall mounted tv with basic channels.
No adjustment on fridge temperature which is not low enough to cool drinks effectively.
No drinking glasses supplied.
No beach towels for the first three days. On first inspection the bed didn’t look properly made so we proceeded to re make it, and found that the bottom sheet was stained, but I believe it had been laundered, the duvet also stained but not laundered. The duvet doesn’t have a cover but has plain sheets top and bottom. The bed was large and comfortable. There was very little noise at night.
Bathroom good quality (probably recently refurbished) excellent shower pressure, and plenty of hot water. This was the best part of our hotel stay by far.
Our first evening I had to clear a table to sit down. Dinner was inedible, fish overcooked, salmon was trout, broken bones left in meat stew, which could be dangerous, especially for children. This was stated as an Arabian night, which might explain the stew. Cold pizza etc. Very disappointing. Decided not to bother with our half board and to eat out at nearby restaurants for the rest of our stay.
First evening bar very busy and understaffed probably due to an All inclusive contingency trying to get their monies worth of alcohol. The entertainment on the night was a solo singer who was very good. We didn’t revisit this bar.
Breakfast (some good food/choice) but far too manic. Very little freshly prepared fruit, no dried fruit. A bowl of frozen fruit was put out near the cereal but would take far too long to defrost before adding it to your cereal. A fair selection of freshly baked breads. Ok for fried food if that’s your breakfast. Freshly prepared omelettes seemed a good choice. Replenishment of food not efficient. Best to go later at 10am ish less busy.
Crockery, some not cleaned properly, some chipped etc, noticed a few people inspecting the crockery before using it.
Staff friendly and polite apart from one lady at reception who took exception to me enquiring about lack of beach towels.
Very intermittent WiFi connection.
Gym. only two floor mats+ no light weights below 6kg. A couple of running and cross training machines plus weight machines which were acceptable but generally fairly basic equipment. Good selection of free weights.
Poor house keeping, towels left on shower floor for replacement but ignored. When phoned for fresh towels they were replaced quickly, but shouldn’t really need to do this. Complimentary toiletries not replenished. We aired and made our own bed daily, so at least it was done properly.
Strangely this hotel was recommended to us. So it was are own mistake for coming.
Definitely not 4 star, a 2 star or a very generous 3 star at best. Personally we both wouldn’t return if it was offered for free. Not our type of Hotel at all, we prefer a smaller more personal establishment. However that said, there seemed to be plenty that appeared happy with it.
We have decided to curtail our holiday here and checked out 5 days early. Actions speak louder than words.
At check out there was a slight problem as money was taken from a debit card as opposed to a credit card, my card was credited after a couple of days so problem sorted.
My advice do diligent research and chose wisely."
