Medplaya Hotel Bali

"On arrival the reception had nothing in the system for us. Told us to wait in bar area but had to end up phoning Jet2 who informed us that they would phone the hotel. Called us back to say they were not getting a response so called my phone and had to pass to reception. Finally got our room. Room was quite modern, clean. Air con not brilliant. Bathroom could do with an upgrade. Only used the restaurant for breakfast and at around half 9, it is bedlam. The staff are great but it’s “so” busy. Food was what you’d expect at an AI. Sometimes queue was upstairs right to the lifts. Couldn’t justify the wait some days so went out. Pool area, as in Piscana area. Absolutely filthy!. I don’t normally post bad photos but feel I have to. Toilet area was clean but could do with an upgrade. All in all, for the money we paid, I expected it to be better. Whilst at the pool, booked San Fermin for next trip. Far cleaner at pool which is where I spend most of my day so it’s important to me to feel comfortable there. Will I be back?………Absolutely NOT!!"

"Check in was quick and grand, the man was lovely and helpful. Had to wait on our room as we arrived early, got in the room after 2 so only had to wait a couple hours which was fine, all the staff mostly friendly apart from 1 man behind the bar who actually kind of scared me so I tried to avoide him lol (always looked grumpy) tall bald man. Room was basic but was grand for what we needed, we had a beautiful view of the sea which was just perfect!! Food wasnt for me, my husband and son made do but just same options every day mostly. Wish there was more fresh fruit like melon etc but was mostly just apples and pears. We where all-inclusive but we ended up going out for dinner 4 evenings and lunch 1 afternoon. The hills outside the hotel yes they are 100% steep but hey ho it is what it is, once you get down its a beautiful walk along the beach. Was able to get a space by the pool everyday after breakfast on the main floor no issues, I would advise to stay upstairs tho as the sun beds on the lower floor aren't great. On our first day when we arrived we bought our son a floaty that looked like a surf board, it wasnt huge he is only 6 so was the length of him, he was told he wasnt allowed to use it, okay fair enough... next day everyone was jumping in like maniacs with big adult floats so I thought to myself what?? Okay so he used his and wasnt told anything, so this went on for 6 or 7 days then suddenly this little boy who was a life guard who looked about 15 years old told me he couldnt use his float, I argued and said well hes been using it for 6 or 7 days now? He said ahh ok ok then... Comes to the 2nd last day some family gave my son a blow up jet ski which was so kind, now it wasnt massive it was just an okay size for a 6 year old to use, he wasnt jumping in like a mad man any time with it or with the other 1 he had he had the best time, Comes to OUR LAST DAY we had about 5 hours to chill around the pool and my son couldnt stop talking about the jet ski being his last day... we went down and this woman said NO NO and blew her whistle, she would NOT allow him to use it. My son was so so upset!! I was so angry and my husband and we said to the lady YOU CAN NOT HAVE 6 OR 7 DIFFERENT PEOPLE SAY YES YES THEN 1 SAY NO, THIS IS NOT FAIR!! She didnt give 2 hoots!! She pointed at the sign which isn't very noticeable to anyone really!! Also most of the life guards like to sit on their phones the whole time!! My advice get a big board in the middle where the life guards sits, put a picture of a floaty with a big RED X so nobody will miss it then!! Unfortunately I dont think I would come back here again for a family holiday!! We where there 9 nights and was far too long for this hotel."
