"We stayed at this hotel in June 2026 as a couple and overall had a pleasant stay, although there were a few things worth being aware of before booking.
The hotel has a large pool area with two pools, a pool bar, a buffet restaurant, and an evening bar. One of the biggest positives was that there were always plenty of sunbeds available. In fact, the pool area sometimes felt surprisingly quiet and empty, although we weren't sure whether this was because the hotel wasn't operating at full capacity. The pool area itself could do with some maintenance, as there were quite a few cracked tiles around the pools.
The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, although dinner is served between 20:00 and 22:30, which felt quite late for us. Judging by the queues forming outside before opening, we weren't the only guests who thought so.
The food was generally okay and about what we'd expect from a budget all-inclusive hotel. Some buffet items were often only lukewarm rather than hot, but there was usually enough choice available. My partner is gluten free (coeliac) and we were particularly impressed with how accommodating the staff were regarding gluten-free requirements. The chefs were happy to prepare fresh food on request, and every buffet item was clearly labelled on digital screens showing the dish name in multiple languages alongside allergen information. This made dining much less stressful and we felt he was very well looked after.
Restaurant service could be inconsistent at times, particularly when it came to ordering additional drinks, but many of the staff appeared to be working extremely long hours, so it was difficult to be too critical.
Our room was perfectly adequate. It appeared to have been recently repainted, but the furniture hadn't been updated, giving it a slightly mixed old-and-new feel. For a budget all-inclusive hotel, it met our expectations. The room was cleaned daily and always to a good standard.
A few practical things to note: tea bags are provided in the room, but no coffee. There is a mini fridge, although it is empty on arrival. Safes are available but cost €3 per day and require a physical key collected from reception, which felt a little outdated compared to the combination safes commonly found in many hotels.
One feature we appreciated was the filtered water stations located in the corridors outside the rooms. These provided chilled drinking water throughout our stay and meant there was no need for bottled water. We drank regularly from these machines, as well as fountain drinks and ice from the bars, without any issues.
The hotel's location won't suit everyone. It is quite isolated, with very limited amenities nearby. There is a small shop on site, but it mainly sells souvenirs. The nearest food shop is around a 10-minute walk downhill to the main road and is only open during the mornings. Beyond that, there is very little within walking distance. El Rompido itself is around a 35-minute walk away, which we didn't attempt during our stay. If you're looking for bars, nightlife or a busy resort atmosphere, this probably isn't the hotel for you.
Another point worth mentioning is that not everything is included within the all-inclusive package. Some drinks at the evening bar, ice creams at the pool bar and certain snacks incur an additional charge. We also noticed that not all guests appeared to be on all-inclusive packages, so it's worth checking exactly what is included before you travel.
The pool area sits on the edge of a hillside overlooking the lagoon and beach, which provides some lovely views. There is a marina nearby which occasionally created some noise and the odd diesel smell from boat engines, but nothing that significantly affected our enjoyment of the pool area. There is also a ferry service across the lagoon to the beach, although we didn't use it ourselves.
The evening entertainment was probably the weakest aspect of the hotel. The entertainment team put a lot of effort in, but some of the themed "musical nights" felt quite awkward, with cast members lip-syncing and acting out shows such as Mamma Mia! and Grease. It wasn't really our thing. That said, there were some genuinely talented singers performing on other evenings, and we enjoyed those much more.
Although this is officially a 4-star hotel, it felt closer to a 3-star experience in several areas. The facilities are a little dated, some areas would benefit from refurbishment, and there are a few unexpected extra charges. However, the hotel was clean, the staff worked hard, there were always sunbeds available, and the handling of dietary requirements was excellent. If you're looking for a quiet, budget-friendly all-inclusive base and don't mind being away from the main resort, it may suit you well."
