Ibis Budget Bilbao City

"Perfectly fine for one night's stay. Rooms are small but functional. No iron or coffee machine in the room, but you can borrow an iron from the front desk, and there is a coffee vending machine in the lobby. If you are given a room next to the elevator, like I did, it will be a little noisy. My one negative experience was that my sheets were sour (hadn't been dried properly and smelled really bad). The smell made it a little hard to sleep. If I had stayed more than one night, I would have asked for a different room with clean sheets."

"Overall, I had a pleasant stay at the Ibis Budget Bilbao City Centre and, for a two-star budget hotel, I thought it offered good value. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and everything was perfectly adequate for a short stay. The only downside was the view from the window, which was terrible — overlooking other apartment buildings. I ended up keeping the blinds closed for most of my stay. The television also didn’t have any English-language channels, although that’s hardly surprising when staying in Spain. The breakfast was good, and the staff were particularly friendly, welcoming and accommodating. There are also plenty of useful facilities available throughout the day, including a coffee machine, vending machines for snacks and water, and free maps available from reception. The location is excellent — very central, with shops and plenty of local amenities nearby. I also really liked the large map displayed on the wall, showing just how close many of Bilbao’s attractions are and how quickly you can get around from the hotel. It’s a simple touch but genuinely useful when you’re exploring the city. There is also plenty of seating, which is great if you want somewhere to sit and spend some time during the day. My only criticism is that the seating isn’t particularly comfortable. Most of it is more functional, table-style seating rather than proper lounge furniture. Given that there is already a defined breakfast area, I think the hotel could make much better use of the remaining space by investing in some softer furnishings, comfortable sofas and a more relaxed lounge area. That would make the communal space much more inviting for guests who want to sit, relax or spend some time at the hotel during the day. Apart from that, I really can’t complain. Clean room, comfortable bed, good breakfast, friendly staff, useful facilities and an excellent central location. For a two-star hotel, I thought it was a good stay and I would consider staying here again."
