"We stayed at one of the villas here. This started out as a pleasant villa on the first day, but on day two in the villa next door 8 young girls turned up and all they wanted to do was party all day & night. We didn’t have a problem to start with but this is a place for families and couples and the town itself is very quiet – not exactly a place to come and party! Complaints went in to management from other people staying in the apartments opposite theirs so we know it wasn’t just us that had an issue with them. On their first night about 9 boys joined the girls late at night making a hell of a racket and appeared to be staying in the girls villa, not paying anything – this was just a 4 bedroom villa for 8 people!!! This went on for a couple of days. We complained to the manager who said he had warned them, the girls apologised and said it wouldn’t happen again. However, it happened every night of the girls’ stay. We complained, the manager warned them again and again but that was as far as they were prepared to go with dealing with it. Before they went out for the evening, they would sit around the pool with glass bottles of alcohol – one of the girls even tried to walk into our villa as she was so drunk she didn’t know where she was. We tried not to let it ruin our stay, but when you get woken up at 3am with loud music, shouting and singing keeping you awake until at least 6am, its hard to not let it affect you. There was no security and we were told the place was very quiet and safe so it wasn’t necessary. Yet according to a member of staff, the same had happened the week before with Spanish boys and according to a local we spoke to, it happens quite a lot. From what we heard, it seems to me they have a reputation for allowing young groups stay and cause a lot of problems to other guests
We did at least manage to get out and about without any problems using trains, buses, taxis or walking. If there are more than a few of you, I’d suggest checking taxi prices with Bolt or Uber first before getting a bus as it worked out a lot cheaper for us (as a family of 8) using Bolt to get around. In terms of the villa itself, I feel it was in massive need of an update as it looked very warn out and like it had not had anything done to it since day 1. The two pools were cleaned every morning, but the sides of the smaller pool were very dirty. We had an outside dining table and chairs on the patio which was a nice touch, but some of the chairs were dirty / stained and the table looked pretty dirty. The kitchen was very old looking and some of the cupboard doors were loose and in need of repairs. The listing says there is an oven – however this is actually a combination microwave oven and the instructions are only in Portuguese so you have to use the internet to work out how to use it as an “oven”. They front door key was VERY fiddly to use – which management were already aware of as they also had issues opening up for us on day one. Unfortunately, I don’t think we will be making a return visit any time soon."
