"This hotel promises so much and could genuinely be an amazing 5 star, however that was not our experience sadly. After an horrendous journey and passport control experience all we wanted was a shower. Check in is between 2pm and 4pm so our room wasn’t ready. We decided to grab a bite to eat from the bar as we had mat with the rest of our party. Once the food came out it was discovered that they had missed mine and another’s from the order. Someone else had ordered a pizza ,when it arrived it had no jalapeño on it so the staff took it back. 15 min later the same pizza came back out with jalapeño dumped in the middle and cold. At this point I was still waiting for my food. When that eventually arrived (about 45 after everyone else) it was disappointing (pulled pork toasty that was more fat than pork). The bar and food is expensive but you are miles away from anything so I imagine most people would pay. Once we eventually got the keys to our room at 4.10 pm , I was surprised to see there was no vanity to sit at to do my makeup. The room was clean , although there was a large makeup stain on the carpet from a previous occupant , that remained there for the duration of our trip. After the first night we had no hot water and were told this was due to a power cut and had been restored. Then our power tripped out so another trip to the reception as the phones don’t work without the power. This was quickly resolved and I assume is to do with one socket in the room (2104) , however the next morning no hot water again. I’m all for an invigorating shower in the morning but I would have had hot water even if I had camped. I called the receptionist and was told that there was a problem and that it should be fixed that day , however we were at an important event so needed to have hot showers in order to get ready. A room was made available (3004) but we were told to be quick as they need the room for other people. This room clearly is only used for things like this or later checkouts and smelt musty, but the warm shower was amazing. We were gifted a bottle of red wine and 5 chocolate covered strawberries for the inconvenience. The is more than one pool and we never struggled for a sunbed which was nice however the flys around the pool were awful so take bug spray as you will get bitten. I can not fault the staff on reception the two ladies ( I’m sorry I didn’t catch their names) were fantastic. This resort is a conference resort and golf base so is a taxi ride into the resort of Albufeira, use an uber not the green topped cabs (who’s prices will vary massively, one ride €12 the next €19 ). Old town was lovely with some hidden gems in the way of restaurants. If you are looking to completely relax this could be a great place to do it if they can iron out the problems."

It was a fabulous week given the need for rest that we felt, and much of that is due to Lucas, who was tireless and very attentive, as well as Tiago, who was also always available and in good spirits.
