"one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. From the moment we got there it was a very hostile environment which was a great start to the holiday! The woman behind the desk at reception was nothing but nasty and demanding, as soon as we got there there was a demand of a €300 deposit in cash which none of us had been previously aware off so as you can imagine we were in a bit of shock especially to hear it had to be in cash which none of us brought as we had all just brought card. in order to get cash we were sent on a 20 minute trek to go find a bank machine as the hotel did not offer one. check in also does not open until 4pm so we needed somewhere to put our 4 large suitcases and carry on bags to which they gave us 1 singular locker for all of our stuff, as expected 4 suitcases did not fit in 1 locker. My friend asked could we have another one and she was told no, they eventually gave us another one which was an over head locker which meant 4 girls had to hoist their suitcases up above their heads. the room was basic and lacked basic necessities such as an iron, hair dryer etc. All of these necessities had to be paid for making it clear the hotel is a very money hungry establishment. The location is also very inconvenient, the closest thing being an Aldi a 16 minute walk away and the shop in the hotel is the bare necessities and they were selling cheese that was out of date, anywhere else you wanted to go such as old or new town was either a 45/50 minute walk or an uber. There’s no lock on the bathroom door and you get one singular key between your entire group which isn’t ideal when you have separate plans at points. cockroaches were found in the kitchen which put us off from cooking anything. We were told we could not make any noise between 10pm and 8am and if we did we would not only lose our deposit but we would also have to find a new hotel to stay. Bar staff were very nice and respectful however due to the fact they usually had one person on for the bar and serving food the service was quite slow. After the cleaners had been in our room we noticed our drinks in the fridge were no longer there, which doesn’t sound like much but considering we cannot even drink the tap water out here it starts to become a pain as the shop downstairs is only open for a short period of time so it was leaving us with no drinks. As we were checking out we were asked “what happened to the towels” and we explained that one of our powdered bronzers had shattered and we used a towel to clean it up as there were no other cleaning supplies to clean with, the woman behind the reception then accused us of lying and told us it was not makeup. She shouted at us for using the towel to clean it and we explained that there were no other cleaning supplies available and she told us we should’ve “used our common sense”, we felt as though she would not have said this to a group who were older than us, she could tell we were a group of young girls in our twenties and she tried to belittle us. we were then charged forty euros for the towel to which i argued was an obscene amount and for doing this the woman behind reception said to me “do you know where you are?” and “you will go no where in life.” the manor in which she spoke to us was very patronising and aggressive as she raised her voice to the point where other guests could hear, very unprofessional. Around 20 minutes later we then overheard her having a heated argument with another hotel guest which again everyone else could hear. overall a very unpleasant experience but the worst part of the hotel was by far the woman behind the reception who i quite frankly don’t understand how she had a job in customer service, she has some of the most appalling customer service skills i have ever experienced and should really make the hotel consider changing their face of customer service as meeting her on your first day really sets the tone for the rest of your holiday."
