"We came here for one week in the May half term as a family of mixed ages from 4 to 65+. We stayed breakfast only so can’t comment on the lunch or dinner here. Breakfast was good, great variety and the manager Marina incredibly friendly and great with the kids.
The Hilton was a great choice for many reasons; firstly there are 5 pools, the Limonata pool has a swim up bar and my 8 and 7 year olds could stand all the way around, the other pool has a smaller shallow section where my 4 yr old could splash around and then Sabi beach club has a shallow kids pool and an infinity pool overlooking the sea. You just need to pre book for loungers at the Sabi pool though. And then the indoor pool which was nice for a break from the sun. At the two main pools, there were always loungers available but we were there early in the season. My middle and youngest kids spent HOURS looking at the lizards that were to be found all around the rock/ amphitheatre section.
The hotel has a real mix of guests from groups of young people to groups of older people as well as lots of families. It’s a good location with the bus depot a 3 min walk around the corner with easy buses to Mdina (game of thrones filming location) and Valletta. We got a Bolt to Popeye Village - it’s best to wait until later in the day for this as the way the demand pricing works they are always more expensive first thing when people are going out for the day. It was 30 euro total there and back when we went at midday and back at 4.30. The hotel is spacious with lots of different areas to suit everyone.
Our room was on the 6th floor and had a massive spacious terrace with 2 loungers on plus a table and chairs.
Finally, the kids club staff were great! There was Mamasita (can’t recall her actual name), Cynthia, Alohana and Vicente. They made the holiday for our kids - were sooo friendly and chatty. You can leave kids aged 4-12 in the kids club without an adult. We didn’t actually do this as ours were easy enough to keep entertained around the pool and looking for lizards, but I know others did - you just sign them in and leave your telephone number and they’ll call you if the child wants to leave. They do a kids party on a Wednesday night and Tuesdays the kids club is closed for their day off. On a Wednesday and Friday they did face painting and most days had different activities morning and afternoon around the Limonata pool.
Some good local restaurants include Luzzo (has kids play area), Trattoria Riccardo (has bigger kids play area) and Ta Pawla."
