Palazzo Barocci

"A couple of hiccups that made this less than ideal. First, the positives: we were greeted warmly by the lovely Rici (spelling) with a glass of Proseco our room was fabulous as far as being unique and comfortable with a gorgeous unobstructed view of the canal (on the side of the building), very quiet, and with cute tiny terrace, comfy bathroom with nice towels, fabulous shower, excellent AC. Definitely recommend our room (302). Negatives: the vent near the ceiling looked quite dirty, shower/bath needs recaulking, toiletries not replenished and, most disappointing, the $25/pp cover charge for the roof top terrace about which we did not know (our bad as there was a leaflet in the room about it but did not see as we dropped off our luggage and wanted to have a quick drink, and did not notice anything about a cover charge at the rooftop). I would like to think that guests of the hotel ought not to have to pay the cover charge. Plus, the service was slow - waited for the drinks, and while olives / nibbles were promised, they did not arrive."

"We were supposed to have an upgrade to a premium room; we were assigned a basic room behind the elevator that squeaked every time it passed, with a view of a courtyard where there were huge AC exhaust units; the room was dirty (dust, drips on the furniture, crushed mosquitoes on the floor and ceiling, black mold on the AC and in the bathroom...) The photos of the hotel rooms on their site are clearly retouched, as if they were recently renovated when they are actually aging and worn."

"A lovely hotel with a fabulous Grand Canal location. We asked for a room with partial canal view, but we had the full view onto the front of the canal right in front of the little landing jetty! It was wonderful. We were greeted with a drink and then given a cold bottle of bubbly in our room. The reception area is smart and comfy. Breakfast area modern and includes a lovely patio / garden area and the rooms are bright and modern without the old fashioned vibe that you sometimes get in Venice. We love Venice and would recommend this hotel. It was also just yards away from the S. Angelo water bus stop, which takes you in both directions along the grand canal. Genius!"
