"As a globalist, I have stayed in my fair share of Hyatts and usually I am very happy. However, this was one of our most disappointing stays.
Room: Tiny room
- We paid an exorbitant amount of points (and cash) to secure the "king suite deluxe," which I was told was their highest suite level. To our surprise, it was just a regular room with 2 rollaway beds placed in a small room with our bed. Once we opened our suitcases, there was no room to walk in. That's how small this premium suite was. I almost called the front desk to make sure there was not a mistake, but didn't want to make a fuss. I understand small hotel rooms in big cities, but if we were actually placed in the correct room, the pictures and descriptions were very misleading.
Foul smell:
- Around day 2, we noticed the bathroom area always smelled bad. Even when we're gone for a whole day and come back to the bathroom, the smell was still there. It was a very distinct pipe leak type of smell. We told the front desk and they said they'll look into it. Maybe it was because we brought it up very politely (and didn't make a big deal out of it), but nothing was done. There was no apologies or compensation or any small things given. We didn't ask, but it would have been a nice gesture for this type of convenience.
Lost one of our items:
- Earlier in our trip, my kids and I took a wonderful venetian mask class and made some masks. We were very excited to bring them home. It was in a brown paper bag in our room... and sometime during our stay, it was thrown away. I've never been in a hotel room where the cleaning staff would just assume a bag in a room (not in the trash can) is trash and throw it out. I understands it happens, but it was disappointing and definitely soured our trip. Our kids still talk about how they wish they had their masks. To their credit, the front desk attendant did try hard to find the bag afterwards and looked in different places in the hotel upon our request. This I will give them credit for. But otherwise, it was kind of just shrugged off.
I'm never the type to ask a hotel for points or money back after a bad stay, but this was one where I was tempted to. Just wanted to post an honest review so people are aware."
