"We were sent here after the Hyatt Regency didn't open in time for our reservation- which we were grateful for. We were very happy with the hotel. We traveled with three kids and had suites and they were great spaces to spend time in and had plenty of room. I will say I think my wife and kids liked the hotel even more than I did.
I really liked the staff a lot. They were super helpful but like the kind of helpful that isn't overwhelming or cloying. They were just really efficient and friendly whenever we needed them.
We walked regularly to all of the main locations, including the Colosseum, Trevi fountain, Pantheon, etc. It's a bit of a hike though to the main sites and we mixed it up between walking and ubering.
I was a little worried about the neighborhood as I had seen mixed things and it was literally right next to the train station but I had no concerns with safety or anything like that. In fact it was a very nice neighborhood with a nice feel and good restaurants if you walked west and ok if you walked east (more budget friendly types of hotels/area). I think if you wanted to be in a hotel to walk to everything you might want to be a little more west. It would be cuter/more touristy there as well.
The kids and the wife really liked breakfast. I actually didn't care for it as much. It felt like cruise ship food- nicely arranged and presented but not really original or particularly flavorful. Again the staff were nice at breakfast and you could always find something to eat but it was only ok food in my view. We paid 22 euro or something.
Overall, it worked really well for us. We enjoyed our time in Rome. We're not really super into luxury (although we absolutely loved the space with the kids). I would say to those who are looking at this that I think it's a tough call for whether it's a "5 star" hotel as it is presented in most places. I think if you are someone who is really into high end hotels/luxury matters, the 5 star is quite a stretch- it leans towards functional, great service, and reasonable pricing in Rome (which is hard to find) and you might not be into it but it had a lot going for it and we enjoyed our time there."
