Excelsior Hotel Gallia a Luxury Collection Hotel

"My fiancée and I stayed at the Excelsior Hotel Gallia in late August during a trip through Italy and France, and this hotel set the bar for everything that came after. The property itself is stunning, but what I’ll remember is the people. Martina in Guest Relations deserves her own review. From the moment we arrived she made us feel like the hotel had been waiting for us specifically. She left us a handwritten welcome card and a gift in the room, checked in on us without ever hovering, and handled every request like it was her pleasure rather than her job. I travel a lot and stay at a lot of five star properties. That level of personal attention is rare, even at this tier. The room was immaculate, the location by Centrale is convenient for exploring Milan, and the whole staff operates with warmth you can feel. We were only in Milan two nights and the Gallia made me wish we’d booked more. If you’re deciding between luxury hotels in Milan, stop deciding. And if you meet Martina, you’re in good hands."

"My wife and I have traveled extensively and have been fortunate to stay at many exceptional hotels around the world, including Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, and Mandarin Oriental properties. Our stay at the Excelsior Hotel Gallia was easily among the best hotel experiences we have ever had. The service was truly outstanding. From the moment we arrived, every member of the staff was incredibly warm, gracious, and accommodating. We arrived well before check-in, and our upgraded room understandably wasn’t ready yet. Rather than simply storing our luggage, the front desk invited us to use the spa facilities to freshen up and change. The spa attendant then offered to keep our bags there and arrange for the bellman to collect them so we didn’t have to worry about a thing. That level of thoughtfulness characterized our entire stay. The location also turned out to be incredibly convenient. The hotel is directly across from Milano Centrale train station, which made our trips to Lake Como and Venice exceptionally easy. While the main tourist area around the Duomo is about 10 minutes away, the hotel provides a complimentary shuttle for guests, so we felt like we had the best of both worlds: immediate access to the train station without sacrificing easy access to central Milan. One particularly memorable example of the hotel’s service was Igor, the shuttle driver. We arrived for the 7:00 p.m. pickup at 6:55, but the shuttle was already full. Igor didn’t skip a beat. He immediately hailed a taxi for us and insisted that the hotel would cover the fare. We actually beat the shuttle back to the hotel and had plenty of time to shower and get ready for dinner. It was such a small thing, but it perfectly captured the hotel’s approach to service: solve the problem immediately and make sure the guest is taken care of. The hotel itself is also beautiful. Our room was spacious, elegant, and extremely comfortable. The gym and spa facilities are outstanding, with a wonderful pool, sauna, and steam room. And the included breakfast buffet was extensive, beautifully presented, and offered made to order eggs and the option to fresh-squeeze your own vegetable juice. What impressed us most, though, was the consistency of the service. Everyone we encountered seemed genuinely interested in making our stay as easy and enjoyable as possible. There was a warmth to the hospitality that can’t simply be taught from a service manual. We have stayed at some of the finest luxury hotels in the world, and the service at the Excelsior Hotel Gallia was as good as — and in many cases better than — anywhere we have stayed. Whatever they are doing here, they are doing it right. We would return without hesitation and cannot recommend the Excelsior Hotel Gallia highly enough."
