"We left yesterday. I feel very mixed about the hotel.
Firstly. I booked it after somewhat extensive research-my husband had a heart attack 5 weeks ago and we needed some r&r.
The food, I read everywhere, was apparently incredible. For an all inclusive option, the food matters.
The food actually, wasn’t incredible. It was very ok.
We didn’t eat dinner there once-lunch only twice. Breakfast each morning because I guess it was ok.
No better than ok.
I also have to mention that the drinks were also very ok. I asked for a cocktail one afternoon and could almost feel my teeth crumbling. I think it may have had approx 28 tea spoons of sugar. Inedible. The local beer was only 3% alcohol, so a very lacklustre taste.
Everything else just far far too sweet.
I’m gonna mention here, before you go, please be aware of the rather odd timings of things in this hotel. Pool closed by 5:50 every evening. Locked and chained. Until 10 the next day. That also means the pool bar is closed. So if you’re wanting to enjoy a tipple whilst getting ready for the evening, you’ll have to pop to the shop next door. Ahhh. The shop next door. The little father and son operation where neither will converse with you and worst still-should you fancy the aforementioned tipple before going out for the dinner you didn’t want in the hotel, think twice about getting one that’s placed high up in the fridge-because one fell on my husband’s head and rather than apologising to my heart attack recovering husband, they grunted at him. Shouted a little. Then made him pay for it. Yeah. Not the best. I’d stay away from that, too!!
It’s worth noting that a big plus is the transfer time. It literally 5 mins from the airport!! However that is also a downside. It’s less than 5 mins from the airport and right on the flight path…
Rooms were fine. For Greece they were quite nice. Definitely not sumptuous or luxurious, but fine all the same. But bear in mind, should you require a late check out-it’ll cost you!!! Yep €40. And a side note here. They already stung us for €50 on arrival for his only knows what!!! Just a ‘fee’ No mention anywhere on TUI’s website about a fee. No mention anywhere.
Then, if it’s important to you, it’s worth mentioning that there will be very sporadic music poolside. They’ll play a song or 2 then it stops for the day. No consistency at all. So it all feels a bit flat. Then something I wish I knew before coming. Everyone and I do mean everyone, sits by the pool either smoking or vaping. If sunbathing in amongst a plume of smoke appeals to you, then this is the place to go!!!
Positives?
It’s in a good location.
Iguana bar a few steps away is really lovely.
There are some really nice restaurants although I have to say I wasn’t impressed overall with the food. At all. Parthenon was by far our favourite meal. The whole thing where they each beg you to use their bar/restaurant each night becomes a bit tedious.
Overall we had a nice time and had a good rest my husband so desperately needed. But i definitely wouldnt recommend or return to this hotel.
My final note is this.
Someone a few reviews up mentioned about how the hotel feeds local kids and it shouldn’t be allowed. Do you know what? There are stray cats everywhere and I mean everywhere. And hotels leave little bowls of cat food around the hotels and on the streets. For someone to say hungry cats are ok to be fed, but not starving kids is utterly heartbreaking. They’re not taking anything from your mouth. They’re having food that would otherwise be binned."
