"My partner and I had an incredible stay at the Avaton Hotel. Everything positive said about the staff is so true, they really are an incredible team. More about them later. Transfer from the airport was 5 mins amd we were met on arrival by the manager Sergio and furnished with a welcome drink each from the wonderful Chrysa at the bar. The location was perfect for us. Set in tranquility with no road or people noise and a gentle stroll into town. The walk into town is easy, just ask the staff for the best route and they tell you how to avoid the main road. If you dont want to walk, or you are headed to one of the taverna's higher up (e.g. Agnadio or Akre which are both amazing) just ask recpetion to arrange a taxi for you. They were perfectly reliable and charged to your room which worked so well for us. You are also right by bus stop 5 to get across the rest of the island with ease. The rooms are fairly typical for greek hotels. Simple but comfortable and very clean. The bed was huge and very comfortable with great pillows. The bathroom was clean, all be it a little tired but functioned well with a powerful shower. There is a combined shower gel and shampoo provided, liquid hand soap and body lotions. There is hair dryer attached in the bathroom which is ok...my partner has long, thick hair and she felt it just about did the job for her, but says she would take her own when we go back. It was blissfully quiet inside the rooms and we slept amazingly well. There is a TV provided, I couldnt comment on the channels as we didnt switch it on at all. We were on the groundfloor (booked with tui) with a pool view which worked well for us. The pool area was lovely, very peaceful, clean and relaxing. With regards to sun beds, yes, there are some numptys who put towels on them at 7am, but we were always able to get 2 beds together at anytime of day with no difficulty. They are extremely comfortable. As others have said, the breakfast is excellent. A good hot selection and a fantastic selction of yoghurt, amazingly sweet fresh fruit and pastries. Coffee service from the bar is included with breakfast and Chrysa is great at remembering your order and bringing it to you before you have even asked! A final word has to go to the staff. Every single one of them are amazing. They go above and beyond to help you however needed. From the manager Sergio, to Stamatia and Alex on reception, to the evening bar crew - Christina and Denada. Chrysa behind the bar in the morning was wonderful, always serving with a beaming smile and was so lovely and helpful. Finally an extra special mention has to go to the beautiful Artea. She trully is exceptional. She always went out of her way to help and really helped make our stay extra special - more than she will know. Thank you for putting up with my rubbish attempts at speaking greek and for teaching me 'useful' phrases such as Πού είσαι ρε μαλ.....😂 All in all, this is a great base to have a perfect holiday in Skiathos."

"I would have given this hotel a 3 rating had it not been for the wonderful staff who were so kind and helpful which more than made up for the hotel’s shortcomings, and therefore deserves my 4 rating. The rooms are really small, with not much cupboard space, and nowhere really to store suitcases. The bed was massive, so more space could have been available if the bed was smaller. Our ground floor room seemed to be a little damp, and the tv channels were non existent for English visitors which is strange considering all the guests are currently British booking with TUI!🤷🏼‍♂️ Rooms at the rear open out on to a near vertical bank, with no view and not much sun, so a pool view room would be a must if that’s important to you. Breakfasts are superb with lots of choice and freshly prepared good quality food. Pool bar/restaurant menu is adequate, but I would consider it inadequate if staying on half board basis, however, the quality of the food is really good. Bar prices are a bit on the high side, and beer is served in 400ml glasses, not 500ml, so that is worth considering. Overall, a lovely stay and a big thank you to the managers and staff for looking after us so well."
