"The hotel is best for couples and families. It certainly isn't a place to go if you want nightlife and a lively pool atmosphere. Evening entertainment is poor, but we don't stay in watch it any way. Similarly, young children will probably get bored as there is very little on offer for them. There is no entertainment or animation team here. Location is perfect, loads of shops within 10-15 min walk along the seafront. We ate out every night, never in the same place twice for 2 weeks. Old Town is also definitely worth a visit. The on site shop is well stocked, and fairly priced. Although the public areas, such as the bar, pool and restaurants are all modern, the hotel owners have taken a decision to embrace a traditional retro look, much of the decoration and furniture is a throw back to holidays in the 80s/90s, which I enjoyed, far better than a bland modern look. The bedroom was large and clean, the bed was comfortable with plenty of storage. The bathroom could have been a bit more lux. A shower over a bath, with curtain is not nice, I would prefer a stand alone shower, The bath tub is unnecessary. Some balcony hanging space would be useful. The breakfast was fine for our needs. You will queue for 3-4 mins if you go at a busy time, but that is to be expected. Especially if you are a large group. As mentioned by others the 10am-6pm pool limit is strictly enforced, we would have liked to stay out longer, but it was hotel policy. The pool is beautiful, but the water is salty. It is also very shallow, we would have liked some deeper parts, for swimming, jumping, diving etc. They do have a lot of rules in the bars and around the pool, if you don't like following rules, then I suggest you stay away from this hotel. The room key is a physical key with a heavy magnet. A card key system would have been much easier."

"The room are in dire need of a update they were small it seems like the hotel went with quantity over quality The hotel is nice looking but has went with profit over experience for guest. The bar staff were really arrogant. The location is long way from anything that is worth seeing you would think being so far from place the hotel would of been better equipped and more welcoming towards guests definitely would not recommend to anyone."

"We’ve just returned from a week at the Dionysos Hotel in Rhodes. We always read reviews before booking a holiday, so I feel like it’s about time I started writing them too… especially when a hotel doesn’t quite live up to the expectations we had. We’ve stayed in Rhodes three times, including twice in Ixia, so we’re fairly familiar with the area. The hotel is in a good location, just a 5 minute walk from the beach and another five minutes in the other direction to a selection of restaurants and bars. Overall, it’s a convenient spot. The staff are friendly and helpful, and we had no issues with the service. Check-in was straightforward, although you are required to pay the room tax in cash, which is worth knowing in advance. Check-out was equally easy. We also booked a shower room for our last day, which was probably the nicest part of the entire hotel! It has clearly been refurbished recently and was lovely. One thing that could be improved is the luggage storage. We weren’t told at check-out that the luggage room is essentially an unmanned cage on the lower level that is accessible to everyone in the hotel. There are lockers available inside, but they cost €2 every time you want to open them, so if you need to access your luggage more than once, the cost quickly adds up. Unfortunately, the breakfast was one of the biggest disappointments. The food is kept warm with candles underneath the serving trays, while the dining area is heavily air-conditioned, meaning the food was often cold by the time you reached your table. We booked bed and breakfast, and this is the first time we’ve ever stayed somewhere and didn’t actually go for breakfast every day because the quality just wasn’t very good!! The hotel’s restaurants and bars are only around €3–€4 more expensive than those along the main road in Ixia, which we thought was quite reasonable. Of the hotel restaurants, the one on the far side of the pool served the nicest food we had. We also ate at the grill one evening, but unfortunately the food wasn’t great. We actually had to send it back because it arrived cold. The pool bar was by far the better for drinks also. Unfortunately there was large discrepancies with how they and the main bar made their mocktails as they tasted completely different from each (waaay better at the pool bar!) During our stay it was so hot there was weather warnings - therefore we asked for ice from the bar to keep our drink cold but were told they cannot give out ice, while I understand this is probably so people don’t drink outside drinks in the hotel, we just wanted cold water and Ice for drinks we had ordered maybe 10 minutes prior. The pool itself is a really good size, with varying depths and two beach-style areas where you can sunbathe. There’s also a shaded pool area and a separate kids’ pool. Unfortunately, the surrounding area lets it down. The pools are surrounded by a strange wooden drainage system made from what looks like decking boards, and these were quite dirty and unpleasant. As a result, sitting around the edge of the pool wasn’t particularly enjoyable. One thing we really liked, though, was the sunbed policy. We’ve never stayed at a hotel that actually enforces the removal of unattended towels, and it makes such a difference! It means you don’t have to set an alarm for 6am just to reserve a lounger; which, let’s face it, nobody wants to do on holiday. If you leave your towels unattended, the pool attendant will remove them. This is only enforced before the pool opens, rather than throughout the day, but it still makes getting a sunbed in the morning much easier. The sunbeds could do with updating, we found many were broken with missing rungs during our stay. There is, unfortunately, a distinct lack of umbrellas around the pool, which means you’re very likely to spend most of the day in full sun if you want to stay by the pool. The pool also doesn’t open until 10am, which feels quite late, and they are very strict about enforcing this. If you get in before 10am, you will be asked to get out. With the pool also closing at 6pm, this does significantly shorten the amount of time you can actually spend swimming or relaxing by the pool. The hotel rooms are quite dated, although they were kept clean. The bathrooms are where we felt the biggest improvement is needed and could really do with being refurbished. Our shower head wouldn’t stay in the wall clip and kept falling down, which made showering pretty tricky. Another small issue is that there’s nowhere to hang towels or swimwear on the balcony, as the hotel doesn’t allow anything to be hung over the balcony. I think investing in the pull-out airers that you see in many other hotels would be a simple solution to this. Overall, we found the hotel to be a bit of a mixed bag. There are definitely positives: the location is good, the staff are friendly, the pool is a great size, and we really liked the sunbed policy. However, there were also quite a few things that we felt let the hotel down, particularly the breakfast, dated rooms and bathrooms, lack of shade around the pool and the restricted pool opening hours. Having stayed in other 4/5 star hotels, we personally wouldn’t rate this as a 4 star hotel. It simply doesn’t feel comparable to other 4 star properties we’ve stayed in. That said, this was a cheaper week away for us during the August school holidays than we would normally spend, so perhaps our expectations were influenced by the 4 star rating rather than the price we actually paid. Would we stay here again? Probably not. We enjoyed our time in Rhodes, but based on our experience, we would choose somewhere else next time."
