Creta Maris Resort

"Beautiful location, beautiful hotel. We arrived just after midnight and asked for a drink, was told the bar was closed. No offer of water. Grumpy Receptionist (maybe he was tired). Booked a double room, which was two single beds put together (but they rectified immediately the morning after arrival). After booking through Jet2 (who stated premium drinks) we found that most of the all inclusive was local brands. Anything branded came at a price. At first the food was very varied, catered for all Nationalities, plenty to choose from but as we came to the end of our holiday (where the hotel was closing for Winter), the selection was poor. Even the orange juice changed from fresh to cordial (confirmed by a member of staff). Also, rarely was the food hot unless you managed to get something straight off the griddle. No microwaves either. Cleaning service wasn’t the best either. Fresh towels every day but not a lot of cleaning. Hairs behind bathroom door (not ours) for 3 days before cleaned. Shame really because the place is stunning but at the end of the day we paid £3200 per couple for 11 nights and the service should have been 100% for the duration . Wouldn’t go back, and wouldn’t recommend, but it really was a beautiful place/location."

"This would have been a good experience except for the way we were treated by some of the staff. I noticed that my wife and I had trouble getting service in the restaurants, but other guests were promptly served. It later occurred to me that this was happening only happening when the staff could hear my wife and I talking. Europeans were promptly served in a friendly manner, and once a server even just dropped some spoons on our saucers without even a good morning and just walked away. After waiting for 10 minutes I had to go searching for coffee from the restaurant only be told that the server was supposed to bring it to us. A German family however was served within seconds of sitting down however. This happened every day at the same restaurant, which was the main restaurant on the resort and the only one where one could dine outside early for breakfast by the beach. I can only assume that we were mistaken for Americans due to our accents and were getting caught up in current geopolitical tensions. Greeks in general became much friendlier when they learned we were Canadian. There were other problems, once during dinner my wife and I had 3 “mistakes”’with our order. This was not universal, some staff were quite pleasant, but all the micro-aggressions from the rest really marred a trip which was planned for our 35th wedding anniversary."

"I’ll start with the good • The resort is really beautiful the attention to detail in the design is just incredible • The food is really good. Even as a vegetarian there were so many choices • Rooms are really spacious • Beach is beautiful • Lots to do if you want to and spaces for everyone whether you like busy or quiet and relaxed • Great family resort The could be better • It is impossible to book the a la carte restaurants • Mini bar doesn’t get refilled • While some areas are maintained beautifully others aren’t very clean. The Terra pool was disgusting and lots of stained sunbeds at both it and the bungalow pool. • Some unfriendly staff at both reception, bar and golf buggies • Housekeeping wasn’t the best there was a urine smell in our bathroom from beginning to end of our stay • No drinks service at any of the pools and bar service was slow • Difficult to get around if you have mobility issues. I had asked in advance for room allocation to allow for this and it wasn’t taken into account - also wasn’t sure easy to get a golf buggy to help with getting around."
