"We stayed at Utopia Blu from 14–23 October, and this was actually our second stay — the first time we’ve ever gone back to the same resort. That probably says enough already! We first came in August 2024 and completely fell in love with the place — the calm atmosphere, the beautiful design, the food, the people. So coming back this year felt like returning home to our happy place.
🏖️ The overall vibe
Still exactly how we remembered it: calm, aesthetic and relaxing. Even though it’s quite a big resort, it never feels busy or loud — more like a laidback little village where everything flows at its own peaceful pace.
🏡 Our room
We stayed in a swim-up room in the new adults-only area, and it was absolutely beautiful. Modern, spacious, bright, and private — plus, we had sun on our terrace almost the entire day, just like we asked for. The staff really do pay attention to requests, which we appreciated a lot.
💬 Service & housekeeping
The service overall was wonderful again.
• Yannis at the swim-up pool bar deserves a special mention. Always smiling, so kind, and genuinely a lovely person to chat with.
• Michaelis made our day when he said “Welcome back!” because he actually remembered us from last year! He’s super friendly and gives such a warm vibe.
We were a bit surprised with the housekeeping this time, though. Our bed was often made sloppy or messy, and one day the room was skipped entirely, which meant we had to call reception in a bit of a rush to get fresh towels before our excursion to Zia. One day, the lady even put dirty socks that were on the floor onto my pillow, which was weird. We’re not fussy at all, but this was the first time we didn’t feel the need to tip housekeeping. Last year, our housekeeping experience was excellent, so we think this was probably just an issue with this specific person, rather than the hotel overall.
☀️ Pools, sunbeds & atmosphere
The pools here are honestly stunning — clean, blue, and perfectly laid out. The sunbeds are really comfortable (not the cheap kind that hurt your back), so you can easily spend all day relaxing. The whole place just gives off that effortless, calm luxury feeling.
🍴 Food & drinks
Food-wise, Utopia Blu is still one of the best resorts we’ve been to.
• Lunch is my absolute favourite — fresh, tasty, and always something new to try.
• Dinner has themed nights; the international buffet is my personal fave, but the Greek buffet had some really good options too. Really loved Viva Mexico as well!
• The Italian à la carte was delicious again and had such a nice vibe in the evening.
Breakfast was the one meal that felt a bit weaker this year. The eggs were a bit dry, and there were fewer options than last time. I really missed the Greek yoghurt with honey and nuts and the banana with honey and nuts combo — my favourite from last year! Would love to see those come back, and maybe add fresh smoothies too. Fresh waffles would be amazing too!
Desserts: mostly lovely, but a bit inconsistent — one day the lemon mousse was perfect and rich, another day it just tasted like whipped cream. Same with the banana cream, which looked amazing but lacked flavour sometimes (and that’s my favourite).
Extra food/drink notes:
• Crepes at Pinkoland (kids pool) = so good! Soft, warm, and perfectly sweet. Definitely worth the walk over there.
• Café Verde (extra charge) was a bit disappointing this time — they stopped selling the milkshakes we loved last year, and the freddo cappuccino was too strong with almost no foam. Hopefully they’ll bring the milkshakes back!
• Premium cocktails that are worth it: the Pornstar Martini and Strawberry Daiquiri (ask for the frozen kind so they add slushie)!
🎤 Entertainment
So much fun! The Michael Jackson night was amazing, and the dance show night had us laughing and cheering, especially the Dirty Dancing choreography. It was seriously impressive — Daniel absolutely nailed it!
🐾 The cats (and Burrito!)
If you’re an animal lover, you’ll adore this: there are quite a few stray cats around the resort, but all of them looked healthy and happy. The hotel clearly takes care of them — there are water and food bowls placed around (often empty, so I think they get fed early in the morning).
We had one little visitor who completely stole our hearts, a cat who decided to nap on our sunbed towel and ended up sleeping there for four nights in a row! We called him Burrito 🥹 He was so sweet. We even bought him some snacks, and he looked so content. It did make me a bit sad knowing the hotel was closing soon for the season, but apparently the gardeners help feed the cats, which is comforting to know.
🌤️ Visiting in October – worth it?
Definitely yes, but with a few things to keep in mind:
• You’ll get a mix of sunny, cloudy, and occasionally rainy days. Usually, it clears up beautifully in the afternoon or for the last few hours of the day.
• Pool water is colder than in summer — refreshing on sunny days, but too chilly to stay in for long on cloudy ones. Most people went in for a short swim or floated around a bit, then tanned.
• When the sun’s out (around 23°C), it feels like 30°C — perfect tanning weather!
• Bring a cardigan or light long trousers for the evenings.
• Pack some games or books for the cloudier moments.
• The resort was still lively mid-October (it felt full), though it got quieter towards the end of our stay as the season wrapped up.
💭 Overall
Even with a few small hiccups (housekeeping, breakfast, some desserts), Utopia Blu completely stole our hearts again. It’s calm, stylish, friendly, and beautifully maintained — the kind of place where you leave feeling relaxed and already dreaming of coming back.
We left feeling happy, relaxed, and already talking about our third visit 🌴💙"
