"Having read the reviews over the last few months. I was dreading this hotel.
Roughly an hour on our transfer from the airport, it was raining on arrival. Staff told us to leave our luggage at the bottom of the steps. Check in was easy. 105€ tourist tax was charged. If you pay by card, pay in Euros as it was about £89. At check in as I have mobility issues they told me I could dial 9 from our room to get a golf cart to take us places. We used the service twice and the staff were just lovely.
We went back out to get our luggage and they arranged a cart to take us. Our guide Was pointing out where things were as we zoomed along. He took us to 5505, and even insisted on carrying our suitcases up the stairs. We later found the lift further along.
The room was clean and bright. We had an extra bed but I did feel the partition wall was blocking some light out. We had a lovely sea view which we had paid for. The room had a fridge with one bottle of water. We bought more water in the shop for 6 1.5l bottles it was 2.90€. The bathroom had a shower which we never had an issue with hot water and it was powerful. The wardrobe had the safe which we needed to call 9 for to get activated but was free. Our Balcony was small but nice to sit on and got the afternoon sun. The housekeepers made the bed, mopped floors and replenished toilet roll and towels. One thing that confused me was there was a slot near the door for a card but you actually didn’t need it.
We headed to get our towels once we were unpacked and found the snack bar. Some pizza and hot dogs were available and we joined the queue at the pool bar for a drink with our tokens. We met our friend here for some drinks.
The main buffet restaurant was initially ok but as it got busier it was noisy and there were queues. Dinner had around 8 choices of food as well as the live cooking session which gave around 5 more choices. The salad bar was vast and good. The ice cream ran out early and wasn’t replenished but the puddings were plentiful along with breads and my hubby enjoyed the soup. We never had lunch here. Breakfast was fine. But a right lack of fruit. Orange kiwi grapefruit and sometimes bananas. Would have liked more fresh fruit options over the tinned versions up by the yoghurts. Hot food was fine and the pastries were at the hot food. The toasters took forever. We did go to the beach restaurant after reading that as a tip, however it was wasp central and unenjoyable,
We mainly used the adult pool as we loved sitting at the bar in the pool. A good tip is to eat here for lunch. They offer 9 different dishes and the portions were huge. They also had some sweet options. They had seating options as well as sun loungers but the loungers were practically on the floor which wasn’t great for my mobility issues.
Once we started to find our way round the resort, we found little cut throughs which cut down walking for miles. Use the buildings opposite to walk through the pools and get to the beach bar and adult pool.
The ice cream counter was chargeable but not really worth it. The beach bar isn’t on the beach but is close enough to walk to.
The other pools always had sunbeds available whenever we passed. There were people down early but not the bed wars of other hotels.
The amphitheatre was in use once on our holiday. The rest of the time the entertainment was outside the lobby bar.
The lobby bar would close at the most random times meaning queues would form and the queue at the other bar would get in the way of the entertainment. And if you don’t watch out you will need to take your cups for the night to your room if you missed the time.
Drinks wise the mocktails were ok. Hubby said the drinks started strong then got weaker. I could only get camomile tea when I prefer mint too. Had no issue with the soft drinks. It wasn’t until the last day I realised the beach bar had water coolers to have water without queuing and there was one at the back of the lobby bar too.
The supermarket was reasonably priced in our minds and some great present options too. There are a few wee supermarkets in the village for different choices.
Mosquitos aren’t normally an issue for us but they really ate us. Our bug spray was not great but we soon bought a local brand.
The beach always had beds and was lovely to walk along, sunbathe and swim. We really enjoyed our day here and were sad we didn’t get more beach days due to the heavy rain.
We booked the à la cart restaurants on the app as you get a code at check in and we went for Italian which was lovely and relaxed. We also booked the Greek restaurant which we loved but we felt really rushed. But it gives you an alternative to the buffet.
The rainy days didn’t have great alternatives and we spent most of the time in our room then.
I would recommend booking Mondo’s in the village for the Saturday Night Greek night. So much fun. Reasonable prices too.
Overall we had a nice holiday despite the heavy rain but for us the resort is too isolated and too big. I’d definitely recommend to families instead."
