"If you have booked this hotel, don’t despair. Personally though, I wouldn’t recommend to a friend.
Positives
Room was ok, I would liken to a UK premier inn. We had a premium room but I’m not sure what made it premium in any way.
Bed was large and comfy - two large singles together. Extra pillows and blankets in box by bed.
Nespresso coffee machine with pods left daily. Water refill point in reception.
Good quality shower and fresh towels.
Roof top bar and terrace had lovely views and a happy hour that ran from 5-8pm
Breakfast was good but limited hot choices; it was included in price I selected, so can’t comment on value. I think it’s alway useful to have breakfast available if wanted.
Two metro stations within 5/10 mins walk. Really easy to access from Gard De Nord, on Metro line 4 and took 10 mins max. We had a card that you just load up as needed. Purchased at airport train station and topped up daily as required.
Close to Montmatre but still a fair walk. If you like markets venture to Saint Ouen flea market just a short walk from hotel.
Good free wifi
Negatives
Check in was awkward in my opinion. We arrived 2:40pm ish and we were told to take a seat but given no explanation. Another lady arrived and checked in and went straight to room, followed by another couple. I realised we had arrived before the 3pm official check in time, but seeing guests arrive slightly early I asked if we could check in; I was told no, as room not ready. Ok nothing major, we were in our room by 3:20pm. Just could have been more welcoming.
Room had only heating facilities and was very warm, due to mild outside temperatures. I asked at reception and was told no Air Con at this time of year due to the French laws. Overall the room was way too hot for comfortable sleep. We had to have the window open which at times was noisy. Not an ideal situation but if that’s law, then nothing the hotel can do?!
I found the room had several stains on the carpet including what looked like paint and red wine. Again, not overly worried but just could have been better.
The area is ok, there are formal and informal street markets frequently that make walking up from the hotel busy. As normal be aware as in any city, keep hold of phone and belongings and I felt in no worse danger than in any busy city. I would say the area has challenges, but not one person bothered us at any time of day or night.
Finally, I thought some of the hotel staff could have been more friendly and welcoming. I did have a couple of issues where I went to reception including the heating and an issue at check out, I felt a little uncomfortable, it was not a friendly experience at times. Again, not the end of the world, but I have certainly received better service and it was not representative of the rest of my interactions in Paris. I find Paris has exceeded expectations with friendly people over my last two visits."
