"We already had a reservation for a holiday in a beautiful European country by the coast. The suitcases were almost packed, the car was checked, and everything was ready to go. Then, just five days before departure, we made a completely spontaneous decision: let's do something different.
We booked a last-minute package holiday to Egypt, and our whole family headed to Tropitel Sahl Hasheesh.
It turned out to be one of the best decisions we have ever made.
Without exaggeration, this was one of the best holidays of our lives.
From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcome. The staff are incredibly friendly, professional, and always willing to help. Everyone seems to share the same goal: making sure guests have a wonderful stay.
The hotel itself exceeded all our expectations. The beautifully maintained, enormous gardens create a peaceful atmosphere, and everything is spotless. Within the hotel you'll also find convenient supermarkets and small shops, and there's even a lovely traditional shisha café right next to the resort, where we enjoyed relaxing evenings with Turkish coffee and shisha while watching the Red Sea and the World Cup :)
Our Family Superior Room was fantastic. We loved the huge balcony, the immaculate cleanliness, the excellent housekeeping, and our (almost) private pool. The room attendants even surprised us by folding towel swans, and on several mornings the gardener brought my wife a bouquet of freshly picked flowers. These little gestures made our stay truly special.
The entertainment team deserves special recognition. The evening shows were genuinely impressive—comedy performances, an outstanding Michael Jackson tribute, dance shows, mini disco for the children, games, and many other activities. This was far beyond the standard hotel entertainment we've experienced elsewhere.
One unforgettable moment happened when our three-year-old son suddenly wandered off somewhere in the vast gardens. As parents, those were probably the longest minutes of our lives. My wife informed security, and what happened next was incredible. Within moments, around 30–50 members of the hotel staff—including security guards, lifeguards, pool attendants, gardeners, housekeeping staff, and many others—organized themselves into a coordinated search operation. It was remarkable to witness how seriously everyone took the situation. Just a few minutes later, Ahmed (the life guard of the pool next to the room) safely brought our little boy back to us.
That single event showed us exactly what this hotel stands for. We have never felt so safe while travelling with children. We will always be grateful to every member of the staff who helped us.
The food was excellent throughout our stay. Besides the generous buffet with fresh seafood, several types of fish, lamb, beef, delicious desserts, and countless international dishes, all-inclusive guests can also enjoy complimentary themed dinners in the hotel's Italian, Indian, and Mexican restaurants.
The beach is beautiful, shallow, and perfect for families with children. A long pier (around 500–600 metres) leads to deeper water, where lifeguards are always present. The coral reef is ideal for snorkeling, and you can even book scuba diving directly from the hotel's beach.
The only minor downside is that some of the hotel's extra services are priced similarly to Western European resorts. However, if you know this in advance, it won't come as a surprise.
To sum it up: we came to Egypt almost by accident, but we left with unforgettable memories, wonderful new friends, and heavy hearts.
