"I came to Sunrise Aqua Joy for a bit of winter sun! From arrival at the hotel we could tell exactly how our six nights here was going to be… amazing!
From arrival they took our bags and tagged them with our room number and the receptionist sat us down and swiftly got us our first drink of the holiday! The papers you had to fill out were easy and then they let us finish our drink and took us to our rooms!
The room:
The rooms were very spacious with a large and very comfortable bed and a fairly big bathroom with a good pressure shower which also include included shampoo conditioner and body wash (you dont need to bring your own). And for those who like taking pictures a massive mirror in the room too. The room also included a mini bar which was sticked up with water and soft drinks everyday! We did find the Aircon didn’t cool the room down too much, but this may be due to the fact we was in winter. The room was cleaned every day to an amazing standard and leaving a little tip on the bed. We always came back to something made out of pillows and towels which was always exciting.
Food and drink:
The food and drink at Sunrise Aqua Joy was amazing. They had one buffet restaurant and six à la carte restaurants which you could book every night for free and that’s exactly what we did! The first night when we arrived we did have the buffet and it was the Egyptian night and they had plenty to choose from! The second night we booked the Italian restaurant which was very nice. The third night we had the Greek restaurant which was arguably the best restaurant and the fourth night we had the Asian cuisine restaurant, which once again was absolutely fantastic. We even returned to the Greek and Asian restaurant a second time. Unfortunately in our time the burger restaurant that they have was closed but wasn’t too sure why. It is worth saying the seafood restaurant is at an extra cost for those who are interested. But we didn’t try this or the Egyptian à la carte menu
There was plenty to drink from soft drinks to alcoholic drink, cocktails, and mocktails! That was a good size menu for drinks! Unfortunately for myself there was no Disaronno amaretto but I still made do with the fantastic cocktails they had!
Pools:
The hotel had many pools, unfortunately, the deepest pool was shut for renovation, but the biggest pool was still open. We found that only one pool at sunrise Aqua Joy that was not heated but every other one was heated. So even in the winter, you could still enjoy swimming! The pool area had slides too, which were great fun including one that you could go down with a friend or partner on a rubber ring! And yes these were heated too! If you paid for the private rooms, you also had a private pool not even 5 feet from your balcony door! The hotel also offers a towel service so you don’t need to bring your own, which was very nice!
The beach:
the beach was right on the hotel with lots of sunbeds and also jetty is going out into the sea with a bar and a restaurant of course in the winter the sea was cold but still bearable (obviously not the hotels fault and nor do i blame them) but I can imagine in the summer it would be lovely. it wasn’t a white sand beach as I’m pretty sure it was a man-made beach but was still very lovely!
Entertainment:
There was entertainment on every night. We watched it two times one night was a fire show which was absolutely amazing and another night was international dance, which was also very good! The entertainers were all very nice. We did find that we would have a different entertainer telling us the same information through the evening about going out clubbing that night or what the entertainment was that night. before the main entertainment, there was always the kids club mini disco on beforehand so it was definitely very kid friendly!
Activites:
As you may find a many Egyptian hotels there are reps walking around trying to sell you various activities or experiences Sunrise Aqua joy offered plenty of things to do from quad biking, scuba diving boat trips, hair and beauty salon, a spa, and even a tattoo shop there was also a photographer! in our time we use the spa for a head massage and we also did the boat trip for the scuba diving which was absolutely incredible! The hotel also offered a service where if you grab a red flag from the towel hut and put it by your beds so the people trying to sell the experiences won’t bother you which I thought was a very nice add-on!
Special shout outs!
I just want to shout out Mohammed in the lobby bar he was absolutely amazing. I made sure we were looked after every night.
Ayman who ran the Greek restaurant was very accommodating!
all the pool Bar staff but all amazing too always coming up and seeing if we needed a drink which was always nice!
And also Alex the camel who was very gentle!
The hotel also did have shops like a perfume shop, gift shop, bag shop and a souvenir shop If you didn’t want to leave the hotel
All in all I would 100% return to sunrise Aqua joy I just want to thank everyone there who made our experience absolutely amazing. I 100% recommend this hotel to anyone!"
