"We stayed at Pickalbatros Jungle Aqua Park Neverland in half October half term for 6 days, and overall our review is abit mixed.
First Impressions:
We arrived during darkness so the entire hotel was illuminated and felt magical and special, after check in we were taken to our room via a golf buggy via all the sites and attractions and you are bowled over by the size of the complex and what it features, our room was fantastic and really had that wow moment when we arrived. The map provided isn’t completely accurate and comprehensive as it could be.
Room 7104
Overlooking one of the waterparks the view was amazing, two massive bedrooms a living room 2 bathrooms, huge entrance hall, wrap around balcony and living room well stocked with water. We were absolutely delighted with the room.
Water Parks, Pools & Grounds
We made he most of both of the parks – although our 9 year old wasn’t tall enough for some of the rides which was disappointing. Water safety was hands down the BEST we have ever experienced there was lifeguards everywhere all of the time (except advertised break points where the parks are shut) and they are on it. We found the unheated pools on the cool side but the heated spot on. The hotel is on a flightpath so you get to see all the planes – we enjoyed this element. The park itself is massive so please bare this in mind for anyone with mobility issues or difficulty over distance – everything is very spread out. The funfair section is good and a nice selection of rides and attractions for the kids aswell as shops we did spend sometime here and enjoyed it
Staff:
It did not matter where you went in the complex everyone was super happy enthusiastic and happy to see you. Cleaning team were tip top and the groundskeepers were excellent everything was well maintained and manicured grounds. The only negative was some maintenance was taking place around the hotel, and the use of angle grinders was slapdash, no covers for sparks or cables (even in the busier areas), I walked out onto the balcony to discover the someone welding by one of the pools, there was no protective screens around so was blinded by the lights, I appreciate Health & Safety is different in the UK but there are some basics surely?
Food & Drink
When you go on holiday, particularly to an all inclusive you don’t want to have to worry about the food and drink side, unfortunately this was rather problematic, whilst the hotel showcases and is very proud of its many many restaurants, the reality is the food is not very dynamic, poor choice and average quality. I believe and have been to many hotels of this size where less restaurants but higher standard and choice, we found it really difficult to eat something for the whole family (we are not super fussy) all the restaurants are basic and although themed not great, That said we found the food in Tagine genuine authentic and excellent, you find many many people walking between restaurants trying to cobble a plate together, and kids choices were essentially chicken nuggets. We were disappointed practically by the premium fish restaurant which is a con. They advertise “market price” but with a discount, when you ask what the price is they get very upset and don’t like it, I refused to order until I knew the price of the “special” meal they wanted turned out to be 149 Euros. When we picked the same meal off the menu it was 22 Euros (albeit crab not lobster). I saw other customers frustrated with the pricing as it seems made up and exploitative, they want you to order and then charge what suits them, this is really really poor. Drinks selection is ok although the self service huts and bars are really spread out, so unless you go to a proper bar in the evening you don’t really get a lot to drink. Occasionally you have the chap walk round the pool taking ages, and sometimes another with the trolly, but this isn’t often. Water is available at some points from fridges.
SPA
We spent 180Euros on 4 massages and they were truly amazing. We have never had such a great massage – Particular shout out to Ahmed Maher Gamal & Sanni Kemi. Superb
Entertainment
As we was there for Halloween we watched the production and it was really, really poor quality.
Overall the hotel is great and making first impressions and clearly has been designed by someone who wants to make things magical, the hotel is clean, safe, well kept, great staff, plenty to do, good waterparks etc, but the miss is the food and drink for me and if im honest would stop me from returning. Which is a real shame as the hotel is good. Final Bug bare for me – Icecream – unless you pay a premium from the one outlet, you can only get it from a stand in the reception building. I have never been to a hotel where it isn’t free flowing,"
