"Very modern hotel set out like splayed fingers. The further towards the fingertips your room, the more private and the more likely to get sun on the balcony. It is 50/50 due to the design. Comfy beds, large shower with loads of hot water, no slippers or iron as standard but kettle and a portable magnifying mirror that is so good it's scary! Superior rooms, (top floors with suites and sunbeds and an expresso machine in ) are available if you upgrade to The Level. These VIP's have a separate eating area, separate lounge and access to tea/coffee/snacks and soft drinks. The main dining area is vast but divided into sections for privacy. Unbelievably there are also at least 6 different styles of chair, of varying heights within the possibly 10 different styled areas, including an outside eating area, so a great choice for short/tall people etc. Dress is casual, not even long trousers but presumably so in the 2 bookable restaurants. No complaints about the variety of food, always many choices, lots of meat, salads, show cooking station but also pizza (you can watch them going into the pizza oven fresh) pasta and chips if not very adventurous. There is a pancake station at breakfast but disappointingly never saw ice cream. Two pools with 80+ sunbeds around each. A rectangular lane pool near the apartments, not heated and a popular heated pool that also had activities. There are circular 'Bali' beds with parasols to rent all day (11-6pm) at 30 euro with water or 90 euro with a bottle of champagne and fruit tray. These are very comfy and a great view of the ocean and pool. A few days there was a DJ and decks by the pool which made for a great upbeat party atmosphere. Never a problem getting a sunbed although it seemed that there were not many for the size of the hotel, maybe more come out in high season? Be aware they are close together and surprisingly a lot of smokers outside, particularly at the café bar. This does great food also. Evening entertainment sadly was not up to standard and poorly attended maybe less than 25 each night but around the bar there were many comfy seating areas and a guest bookcase. Being 90% German guests there were few English books to swap. Downstairs on floor 0, there are pool tables, card tables and many more comfy seating areas set around an indoor garden. Our holiday was made fantastic because of the many, many activities on offer by the enthusiastic Animation team. Xavi and Paula in particular made every day entertaining. We totally loved the pool bike sessions and all the exercise classes. There were unusual activities too such as line dancing, painting, Latin dance, cooking, history and cocktails to name a few. It was impossible to do them all. They were well attended, a good 15/20+ at each. Would definitely return to a Melia hotel for the activities alone. There were massages available but we couldn't find any info on this. Recommend scanning the QR code in the room as this has an awful lot of info on it, not just the hotel but the history of the island and suggestions of what to see etc. Puerto Naos is an easy 5 mins promenade walk away with a few shops, bike hire, pharmacy and SPAR. You can rent a sunbed and brolly on the black sand beach for12 euros. The island still has SIESTA between 1-4pm and all except cafes and Spar will close. We got the 24 bus from the top of the entrance road to the hotel (there is a shelter) to Los Llanos 2.4 euros for a look around. Recommend a visit to Parque Antonio Gomez Felipe for beautiful mosaics, ornamental gardens and the prettiest loos ever! Totally free and quite beautiful sculptures. The town is busy with many nice buildings, church and museums. It is worth the trip plus the bus passes though the lava field and you get a good look at the devastation caused by the eruption in 2021. Something to note in the hotel is that access to every floor is ENTIRELY by the lifts. The only stairs are the external, tiled steps for fire escape purposes. Overall this hotel exceeded our expectations and the starlit skies were amazing. (NOTE the local stargazing trips up the mountains do not run 10 days around a full moon, so we couldn't go ) MANAGEMENT -Please can you arrange for the small observatory to go back to working order for guests as this would have really been the icing on the cake. We would return, thank you."
