"We stayed at the Costa Encantada last August for 10 nights. I've a lot so say so i've broken it down in sections for ease of reading!
Arrival & Room
We arrived at the hotel at around 5pm, we had booked a private transfer and it took around 40 minutes from Girona airport. There was a small queue at the reception but it moved fast. The lady on reception was fantastic and explained everything to us and showed us where everything was on the map. We had booked a pool view one bedroom apartment. Our allocated room was on a higher floor (lifts available) and it did indeed have a lovely view across the pool area. The room was quite dated but still very much useable. It was light (huge windows), spacious and airy. The room was also very clean. It was more than adequate for the 3 of us (two adults and one child). The room also had a big balcony area with chairs and a table which was nice. Upon unpacking we realised they hadn't given us enough towels - a quick visit to reception and they brought us loads more. The room had plenty of cupboard and drawer space and loads of complimentary toiletries. Room was quiet at night but we did hear the odd person dragging furniture about one night.
Location
The hotel is located out of the main Lloret centre in a quieter area called Fenals. It was about a 20 minute walk down into Lloret centre and about 10 minutes to get to Fenals beach. There were plenty of shops and restaurants within a 5 minute walk of the hotel. There was a supermarket, petrol station and burger king over the road.
Food
We had breakfast every morning in the restaurant as this is the only meal we had booked. There was everything you could have ever asked for and more at the buffet. There was the usual full english options, breads, cakes, pastries, continental options, etc. Also some food cooked to order which changed each day - examples include pancakes and waffles. The food was absolutely fantastic. We arrived at breakfast around 8.45 each morning as it was quieter then - any later and it got really busy. We ate in the restaurant in the evening once (extra charge) but whilst the food was good, we never did it again as it was so busy it was carnage. We had the odd snack from the pool bar (chips etc) and these were always cooked to order.
Pool Area
The pool area was absolutely fantastic. There we're hundreds of sunloungers so mostly always some available (only one day did we have to sit on the ground). There is the usual mad dash at 9am which is hilarious - you can watch it from the breakfast balcony. At 9am they blow a whistle to signify the pool is open and everyone runs out - funny as. There is a newer area of the pool which is only about a foot deep and it has loads of little slides and chutes for the kids. There is a larger area of the pool which is more like your traditional pool that you can swim in. Whilst we were there (although luckily two of the days we were not at the pool) the pool had to be closed and sanitised as someone child had 'you'd know what'd' in it - two days on the trot (literally). The is a good pool bar which serves loads of different drinks and snack. Food and drink both good and reasonably priced, but service is slow as they never have enough staff on. plenty lifeguards around the pool and they were quite strict.
Entertainment / Activities
There was so much to do at the hotel, you wouldn't have to leave if you didn't want. Our daughter (6) enjoyed the kids entertainment such as the pool disco and the indoor kids disco. The kids animation team was really good. We watched a few of the night time family shows which were really good but did start a little late at 9pm. However when your on holiday I don't suppose it matters what time the kids go to bed! There is a large shop onsite that sells snacks, pool floats and gifts etc.
Staff
All staff encountered were fantastic, couldn't do enough to help you.
We had an absolutely amazing time here and we all said its the best holiday we've ever had abroad. Just writing this review makes me wish I was there now! If you are looking for a great family hotel with great kids / family facilities, look no further - you'll not regret it."
